Exhaust leak

Ok so I know I'll get grilled for this but I couldn't wait to get the funds together for a new exhaust system . I wanted to see what she sounded like opened up so I did the "washer mod" .

First off it sounds great not as good as my buddy's FI setup but for $14. Psshh you can't beat it.

Anyway I was cruising last night and when I stopped to pump gas the vehicle threw a service engine soon light. It has stayed on since then. The car drives fine but the service engine soon light won't go away is there any way to get rid of this without causing further problems

Go see which code your Z is throwing out. Once you know what it is, you can have it cleared. BTW, you should have put those $14 in the piggy bank and saved up for a real exhaust. You see, a real exhaust doesn't only make your Z sound better. It also adds power, enhances aesthetics and negates your CEL from popping up unexpectetedly.

Well, SOME new exhausts do that... Lol.

SOME of the new non-reputable manufacturers ones do that for sure.

If he wanted a proper exhaust leak he should have bought Z1 exhaust gaskets. They are more expsnive than his washers but are the ultimate will-leak-guarantee product for our cars

There are some wires that run nearby. Make sure the exhaust isn't blowing on them.

As Nixin said, get an OBD reader and see if any DTCs have been thrown.
