Whats the reasons vs. the two?

I live in california, so I know both are illegal. And i wont need a smog check until 4 years. Thats what i DO know.

Cat delete you mean? It will rasp so make sure it's resonated. Look for resonated test pipes (Fast Intentions )

Not sure about our car, but most cars have O2 sensors on both sides of the main cats. So if you removed them, you will get a CEL (or whatever we call them). There are O2 simulators, etc.

FI resonated test pipes and his O2 spacer and it will sound awsome. but make sure where you live does not make you do a sniffer test on the exhaust or you will get dinged. If they do your best bet will be HFC's

There are O2 bungs to fool the sensors and avoid CEL

Around 20k miles here with no CEL (knock on wood)

Does your mileage drop when you "fool" the O2 sensor? If I recall correctly my other cars ecu controls AFR based on readout from the sensor.

That's a tough one bro, I only noticed a decrease in mpg coz my right foot got heavier after the install haha

AFR's are run off of the front O2 sensor. the back O2 sensor is to monitor the function of the cats.

When in doubt, stay smog legal. Never know when good ole sniffer vans will be by those on ramps. Or maybe that's just a Tx thing. :lol:

One of reason is to have a gain of some Hp and a less restrictive exhaust flow, like it has been advised removing the cats will sound really raspy, and if you go with aftermarket cats your going to have a problem with a Muffler shop touching the one's on the car, it's against the law for them to remove them without something being wrong with them, so if you don't know somebody at a Muffler shop that knows you really good, your going to be doing the work on your own.

Generally speaking, the less restriction, the more power produced through freeing up the slim factory pipes and dense element in an OEM cat. This has a much better result from a turboed or supercharged engine in terms of numbers however the 370 does definitely suffer from a choked up exhaust and tests have shown a definite increase in power.

The real question is, what are you wanting to achieve by doing so? Are you looking to heavily modify the car for maximum power? It sounds like you would be better off leaving the car alone if this is the only thing you plan on doing. And technically, we don't NEED a smog for 4 years HOWEVER, you can still recieve a violation for having illegal parts on your car and have to put the stock parts back on in order to pass... you guessed it... a SMOG test. I'm pretty sure our money hungry, revenue collecting state has mandated that you don't need a smog for 4 years provided the vehicle is in stock form. All other bets are off.

Yes, we have those same "data collecting" vehicles set up on the side of the freeway onramps out here too. And what's more, we have rolling smog stops...










Now generally they are pointing in clunkers but hey.. you never know. Now it is my understanding that when the cop points you in, you can decline to be detained and they can't make you stay. Any law enforcement peeps here can lend insight on that? When I rolled by earlier (without my camera) there was a line of about 4 cars waiting to get "smogged" for "research" and these poor people are out a half hour to 45 min. ?? of their day? BS

Glad I live in Nova Scotia. Smog tests? Not likely to happen here anytime soon. Modify away on exhaust up here.
