3.5" Air Intake
I was wondering if anybody has a 3.5" intake or bigger installed in their 370z? I looked around and it looks like nobody has/makes them.
In the 350Z and especially maxima forums some have ran them with 10-15hp increase over the regular 2.5in intakes. Only one i've seen is sold by "Admintuning?" for the G37. So, what do you guys think? Worth it for our platform? Example: |

Is the increase in power due to the intake, or the fact it's running leaner with a larger than expected diameter with the stock MAF tables? I'd assume you would want a tune in conjunction with an oversized intake, and at that point how much of the power comes from tuning vs the intake itself?

A 3.5" intake would hit a hell of a bottleneck at the stock throttle body. My semi-wild *** guess would be that this may be useful if you have everything ported to match.

Another thought , is going with a larger diameter tube allows the us of a bigger air
filter, Its a know fact that increasing the filter area will increase air flow at a reduce pressure drop. Therefore there is a possible increase in HP at some point in the operating range. |

As a heads up: after comparing the AAM intakes that I previously had to the inlets of the EPS TBs, one would assume that a larger diameter intake system would be benefical. The AAM intakes are 2.75" and the EPS inlets are appx. 3-3.25". EDIT: I should also add that Admin Tuning advertises their 3" G37 intakes fit the 370z; I'm waiting on mine to arrive Last edited by NorthStyle; 12-21-2016 at 01:50 PM. |

From the dynos they've posted, the numbers don't lie and they've made more power than anything else currently available for the VQ models they offer. I also consulted with EPS in regards to which they recommended with their throttle bodies and they said the same thing.
I'm experimenting a bit since I'm going to pair them with the Z1 hi-flow intake upgrade since they use a velocity stack with the filter whereas the normal Admin tuning kit doesn't appear to. |

There's the one G37 but I'll be the first 370z as far as I know. Just a heads up, there's. 4-6 week lead time at the moment for them.
Regarding the velocity stacks, I'm not expecting much but any gains in power or response are better than none. Wishful thinking... Last edited by NorthStyle; 12-22-2016 at 04:27 PM. |

Mine have been installed for about a month or so now... great items and Moncef from Admin Tuning is a good guy to work with.
I haven't been able to install my Z1 upgrade filters with the velocity stacks as I haven't been able to find anyone locally to cut and re-weld my crash bar, but beyond that I don't have any negatives... I will say that they're a bit of a pain to fit due to their size, but it is what it is. I can't give you a cut/dry how it is over stock though since I had a lot installed all at the same time along with a couple weeks of data logging/tuning from Seb at Specialty Z, but the car is a blast to drive and throttle response is greatly improved. |
