Injen intakes vs Rain
These injen intakes are gonna be the death of me man... I can not for the life of me drive my Z when it's raining. I've done countless research and seems like my last resort is to upgrade to stillen g3...
Has anyone came up with any recent solutions? I heard hydroshield is complete ***, so don't bother recommending that unless the company has actually put effort in their product and is working. |
What's the problem, getting wet?
i have Injen too and haven't had a problem with them at all other than the airflow is a bit more turbulent than the Stillen setup so it is louder, but that's not the kind of issue you're talking about. |

Is there space to use the AEM bypass valves?
|
Kick it to the curb and use something else. No way would I put up with that.
|
Do you have some pics of the intake installed on your car? There doesn't seem to be any other members reporting this problem with the Injen setup.

I've also heard about others with the same problem as me on this forum but it was years back

Seems like one member made up a workaround, but it seems like a switch to a Stillen or Maf hoses/drop-ins will be your only guarantee. |

He said mad hoses/drop ins meaning going back to oem boxes and changing to the silicone intake hoses behind it. So yes will definitely fix your issue since it is basically OEM.

Beat me to it

I assume you have all the underside pans on? Can't think of anything else that would cause that. Water is seriously getting in there somewhere. I had the Stillen on at one point too. It switched back to Injen.. |
Maybe try a KN dry charger wrap

why cant you drive when its raining?

somethings not adding up |
I had a cold air intake right at the bottom from Under bumper area on my eclipse and I used a Air filter waterproof "sock" and it worked wonders, Never had an issue swalling water and I went through pretty big puddles, mind you I still slowed down etc when going through puddles, but Rain, bring it on I never had an issue, even in intense rain storms etc and I was driving it in Winter too, with all the icing rain etc you can bring.

Have been caught in heavy thunder storms a few times and never had an issue with my Injens. Been on my ride since 2010.

If I'm driving for about 10 minutes, then nothing happens. |
Injen intakes vs Rain

It hardly rain in SoCal but this still unacceptable so I switched to G3. Quote:
All fender liners and under shroud were perfectly installed. |

Do you still have your plastic fender panels that protect it from waterpuddles or rain? If your car is lowered you be in danger when driving to even ankle deep floods. Water in your engine spells disaster.

I guess your other option is to ensure you have a custom made "3 face splash shield (front/sides/bottom" designed for your interior bumper area where your filter will reside so that you don't have water splashing on your filter or the valve safety the guys are talking about, I heard that works too. |
Another plus 1 for the Hydroshields.
Been driving in the rain without issue. I had been wary since I have an aftermarket front with vents that open up directly to the intakes. I also tested them like Karnak did prior to install and was equally impressed. The Injens or AEMs were my only long tube options and happy I stuck with the Injens and shields. |
