I never had an issue with mine and it worked as advertised, I did the water hose test and it worked...I was actually impressed by it...

I guess your other option is to ensure you have a custom made "3 face splash shield (front/sides/bottom" designed for your interior bumper area where your filter will reside so that you don't have water splashing on your filter or the valve safety the guys are talking about, I heard that works too.
