Exhaust drone at low RPM (HFC swap?)
I just recently upgraded my 2016 Z with:
Stillen Gen 3 Intakes Tomei Expreme Headers Stillen HFC Ark Grip exahust UpRev tune When I open it up above 2500rpm, it sounds great: throaty, mean, and pretty damn loud. The power improvement is great too! But when I'm idling or especially when I'm around 1700-2300pm, there is substantial low-frequency drone. This makes taking off from a light or cruising at 50mph in 6th gear way louder than it should be. I'm trying to decide whether I should swap the Stillen HFC(s) to FI Resonated HFC(s) or whether I should be in the market for a different exhaust to solve the drone. I don't mind spending the money on different HFC if it solves the problem; same for exhaust. |
Yes. Resonators should tame your perceived drone a bit

i don't think the resonated hfc will do too much to solve the drone. Without specific tuning side branch pipes or helzmoltz pipes, it's going to be there.
Either have to live with it, shift to 5th gear to get out of rpm band with drone, or add on side branch pipes. |

I think the only option available as HFC is Ark R spec but is quite expensive. |
