Which exhaust should I buy??

I finally got tired of my stock sounding z and now I'm deciding to buy an exhaust. I've already got a stillen gen 3 intake installed. The only thing that sucks is that there are too many exhausts and it's hard to tell how that exhaust sounds in youtube videos. I've want a exhaust that has a DEEP EXOTIC sound rather than it being super loud. Honestly, I just don't want it sound RICEY.I want to know what kind of exhausts you have and how you like it. If you guys could format it in this way, I saw this on another thread and it seemed to work.

Exhaust Name:
Quality:
Fitment/Looks:
Sound:

I narrowed my choices to Fast Intentions 18'' resonators, Motordyne (I've seeb videos but I want to hear how you guys think it sounds like), and Tanabe (I don't really know how this sounds or have any info on this, but I heard it on a stillen supercharged g37 and I liked it). But, if there are exhausts that have better sounds let me know! Thanks guy this would really help alot!

Fast Intentions or Invidia paired up with some HFC.

Since you want quiet and deep I would go with F.I w/ resonators. Motordyne E370 might be to loud for you preference. A buddy of mine just installed his motordyne and its really loud above 3-4k but still sounds good. Both are extremely good in terms of quality, looks and fitment.

Exhaust Name: Fast Intentions TDX w/18 inch res
Quality: Fantastic!
Fitment/Looks: too pretty to mount under the car.
Sound: Very deep from idle to 2500, 2600 to 4000 very smooth, 4000 to redline very exotic. Add in a supercharger and then multiply the sound by 10!

BC416 09-12-2016 01:15 PM

Both F.I. and Motordyne are good choices. Go F.I. if you want something smoother/deeper. Go Motordyne if you want something louder/more aggressive.

Also, find a local meet and check out some exhausts in person.

DEpointfive0 09-12-2016 01:19 PM

I've never seen a thread like this... Ever...

Deep=Fast Intentions or... Ark.

JerryDeluxe 09-12-2016 01:51 PM

GTHaus Meisterchaft exhaust is what I recommend , pricey but 100% worth it.

Especially from someone with less then 10 posts. Never.

Can't go wrong with Fast Intentions. Over 1500 custom made exhausts and probably 500 resales out there.

Didn't mean to sound like a douche. I was looking up exhausts reviews and just saw somebody on the forum a while ago use this way to find an exhaust because videos didn't help.. lol sorry about that

I definitely would've done that but I live in the central valley. Most of the z clubs are up north or south so it's quite a drive.

Is it pretty loud just when cruising? The only reason I've been thinking about getting motordyne rather than f.i. is because of the drone.

Nixin 09-12-2016 02:39 PM

Two simple words, 1. Fast and 2. Intentions.

Your going to get some drone when you are doing hill climbs and any high gear low RPM acceleration but its definitely bearable. I am used to decently pretty loud exhausts so it does not bother me that much. If you really want no drone go with F.I. w/18 inch resonators. If its not loud enough add HFC or test pipes. Done.

MagmaRed370z 09-12-2016 03:51 PM

Fast Intentions or ARK

Cegla 09-12-2016 04:39 PM

Fast Intentions 18' will also drone a bit below 2500rpm.

jaycz 09-12-2016 07:13 PM

Tanabe, build quality is first class. Sound is not ricey, not loud or not too quiet. More of a touring exhaust until you get over 4k.

This...:icon18: I couldn't be happier...ok well maybe if I were in a GTR. But seriously, FI all day long.

azza12311 09-13-2016 04:12 AM

I would be the only person here to go for the japan powercraft. it sounds amazing and looks good :).

/Angelo350Z/ 09-13-2016 04:22 AM

I've had the Fast Intentions TDX with 18" non-resonated test pipes for over three years now and the combination is great. Though, and maybe I'm just getting older, but I find myself getting slightly annoyed by the loudness during longer-than-usual drives. Still, it's hard to beat the sound, quality, and gains from FI.

BOLIO 671 09-13-2016 07:11 AM

Most will direct u to Fl...They're the biggest selling exhaust in the Z market....a good exhaust but I decided to go with Berk as I wanted something close to stock not too flashy that sounded great. Their CBE paired with their HFC's/Resonated TP'S is Exotic and clean.

Exhaust Name: Berk Technology Nissan 370Z/Infiniti G37 - Berk Technology

Quality: Awesome
Fitment/Looks: Stockish with bigger tips
Sound: Perfect....No Drone...No Rasp...smooth, deep and a beast after 3500RPM

Luckily for me Berk had just received their shipment of supplies and was able to ship my exhaust out the door in 2 weeks

Here's a vid of my Berk Set-up with Resonated TP's.

Exhaust Name: Armytrix
Quality: Excellent
Fitment/Looks: Excellent
Sound: Variable on demand

Are there any z meets in California? I'm South Bay Area and never heard/seen one. Lots on classics and Chevy but never seen a z meet.

There's a Nissfest on Sept 25 in Fontana, CA. Alot of z's will be there! I'm pretty sure there are z clubs near you that you can join too.

There are usually a bunch of Z meets in the South Bay. There is a Z group in the Bay Area that hosts meets every month. Very friendly bunch. :driving:

You will get drone on most aftermarket exhausts in certain rpm bands. From review, Motordyne has less drone compared to FI (boost lee i believe).

Like everyone says, FI is smoother and deeper, motordyne more aggressive and higher pitch.

If I could do it over again I would do motordyne test pipes with motordyne shockwave. Currently have FI 18" SS exhaust with FI resonated test pipes. It's loud in a good way but can be annoying at freeway crusing speed when rpm band is 2K to 3K.

Added side branch pipes and it calmed the drone down a lot. Testing to see if I like the new setup or if I want to change to motordyne.

Everybody always jumps on saying Fast Intentions, Motordyne and ARK, but no one almost never mentions HKS. I love my HKS, perfect fit and finish, zero drone, and while running the stock cats, not much louder than stock. A very smooth, mellow tone.

That was my second option if no one had a used ark or motordyne up..
A friend put one on his 335i, sounds nice at start up then slowly goes down in sound. I decided against due to me wanting a little more bass with VQ sound.

But anyways, to OP, I have an ARK grip on my 09, stock cats. No drone when cruising in the upper gear. Sound doesnt come till 3k.
But when your slowing down there IS that slight drone from about 4k(if your that low or high) to 2k. I like it IMO.

I have a 7at too so i cant say anything about slowing down with the clutch in.

ARK grip
Fitment: Some people have it good.. others have some fitment issues being the tip sticks out a little more on one side. I guess a hit or miss? I got mine used. And yes it is off there.
Sound: smooth vq at certain rpms. Opens up after 3k. If i can remember, there decibels were in the 80s on start up, don't quote me on that if your state/county has a thing for it.. and if you follow it.
Quality: 9/10 due to fitment issue i mentioned. ALSO sits pretty low so if you are lowered from stock Id ask others that are lowered with this set up..

Loved my HKS HI power exhaust when I had my 06 G35 coupe. Excellent fit, finish and look. Greta throaty exhaust note.

I'll definitely be getting one for my Z.

I'm getting the Motordyne E70 installed this Saturday. Absolutely gorgeous and well-made. From the vids I've listened to, it's brutal at WOT.

Only one more day to go!

I went with the GTHaus Meisterschaft axleback on my stock base. I absolutely love it. Expensive, but it was money well spent in my opinion.

wideglideleon 10-20-2016 04:44 PM

I have had the Stillen and now have the Fast Intentions both great exhausts. I didn't like how the tips protruded on the Stillen and wants the carbon FI to go with my other CF bits. My buddy has the Motordyne E70 and I would have no reservations on using it either.

JC-Nismo 10-20-2016 07:08 PM

ArmyTrix......EPIC!!!

jchammond 10-20-2016 07:38 PM

Probably the worst thing about the FI exhaust (unless it's changed) is the 10-12 week wait.
