Takeda/Afe CAI Intake Air Temperature Situation
Hello everyone,
So I bought a Takeda CAI for my Z and one thing that concerns me is the MAF locations on these intake. The MAF sensor connecting locations are on the bottom of the intake pipes and it appears to be closer to the engine compared to other intakes (stock, my old K&N intakes, stillen, etc...). I did some data logging with obd2 scan tool and noticed that the IAT is very close to ambient temperature on highway speeds BUT as soon as I hit a stop light and while travelling at local speeds, I noticed my IAT to be quite a bit higher than the ambient temperature (around 15 degrees Celsius higher). I am thinking this is because the MAF housing for these intakes are relocated closer to the engine causing the MAF housing and the MAF sensors to heat up. (The pipes get really hot near the MAF housing) Will this affect performance? and if so can it be controlled with a tune? The car otherwise runs great and since I got these intakes my car feels smoother. Also let me know if anyone else has experienced this Thanks any input will be much appreciated |

I have the same intakes and while it's normal to see higher IAT at idle than it is while crusing I doubt the MAF has anything to do with it. Why don't you try some heat wrap around it carefully and observe your IAT at idle then?
