I just ordered the AAM s-line axle back(the one with mufflers) for my stock nismo exhaust.Hoping it will give a little more growl to my Z but still be easy on my old ears.

This is the one I was thinking of getting. Looking forward to your thoughts and comments. I made the mistake of getting Beluga short tails a while back and they stayed on the car for less than a day. Horribly loud and the resonance and drone would make my ears bleed. Took those off and sold them. I'm now hesitant to try anything else.

I got the AAM axle back muffler installed.Pretty much sounds as I expected, just a little louder without getting too loud.It doesn't have any funky sounds at certain rpms or pops or crackles which I'm happy to report.Overall I would still term this axle back with the nismo exhaust to be quite conservative. The big plus for me is the tips look great with my base 370z and the nismo exhaust, fit and finish is great.

EDIT: ffs... just saw the date on this thread... holy necro - sorry feel free to delete admin

I have heard the aam shorttails on aam HFC and Berk HFC and Berk test. Nice throaty sound, def a rasp on test, bit of rasp on Berk HFC, and a bit less on the AAM HFC.

I'm 42, daily driver, and want a lovely tune on WOT but sleeper type on normal. I chose Fast Intention setup. Went with resonated HFC to eliminate the rasp, and then opted for the 18" resonated TDX cat back (over 12") for a good solid deep soundtrack, and added the carbon fiber for the looks against a Gun Met paint job

I have heard the 18" TDX with test pipe and absolutely loved the tune, but rasp and drone annoyed me. I would really put the FI cat back against any tune out there, save ARK GRiP with I think has a slightly better low sound, but also doesn't really honor the stock VQ note.

These are all personal preference statements and to be accepted accordingly

I've hear nothing but good things about the AAM Short Tails and contemplated them myself based on review and videos. I did my research and still went a cheap route, which I have since corrected, but spent more than I would have initially. I have seen many posts about how Beluga is a waste because of rusting or fitment such as Beluga Racing axle back poor fitment or *stay away from beluga racing

+ I agree with what Ventruck said in that thread, "While this isn't a Corvette, let alone a Ferrari, it's a thoroughly-engineered car that doesn't exactly come for chump change. And so you want to pair it with a ~$300 axle back from a company that doesn't carry any real pedigree.."
