Nice... AAM Axleback exhaust hanger broke.
So... Yeah, this is irritating to say the least. I was hearing a tapping rattle sound, I thought maybe a loose bolt or something on the exhaust, I was taking it in anyways. So I took my car in to replace all the exhaust gaskets from the headers back. I had the crap waffle gaskets that couldn't seal a fart in. After the work was done, I went to grab my car and started her up to see if the leak went away. Good news, the Z1 gaskets are the business and work great. Bad news is the exhaust hanger disconnected itsself from the exhaust pipe... It doesn't look like AAM did much more than a TAC weld to hold it in place. So I walked right back in the shop and they fixed it for me on the spot. Z Fever may be a dirty *** shop, but the owner hasnt charged me a dime for replacing the gaskets, installing the axleback, and repairing my overpriced exhaust. So kudos to them for great customer service on that front. Maybe this is a one time thing with AAM because they generally make quality gear, but now I have a burned bumper too. After fixing everything, the car sounds great, especially now that it's broken in. Anyways pics are linked below.

Should of went with fast intentions.

That was a cold weld. Not enough heat when they welded that. There is very little penetration on the rod. Also should of had another weld on the other side too. :shakes head:

Take it to a muffler shop or welder.

Yes, I would have been happier with an F.I. exhaust lol. I'm just happy it's broken in and the sound is finally coming through. I have a vid when it was brand new. Whenever I get home, which will be next year, I'll do a video comparison.

Maybe AAM should step up and cover the damage to your paint created by their faulty workmanship.

On my resonated short tails I actually had fitment issues on the driver side due to a poor bend and or shitty weld placement... was on the phone with aam for a while and they first told me to just bend it to make the hanger fit right. They did offer to send new part if I sent mine back first but I didn't want to drive around with no pipe for days,,, So I bent it and make it work. Long story short, those hanger welds need some work from AAM...

Honestly, I've had a run in with AAM as well. My driver side muffler fit perfect but my passenger side did not. Ended going through a whole fiasco of sending my parts back and putting my OEM parts back on. When it was all said and done, I didnt get the outcome that I have expected at the price point of what they were charging. But they were responsive and professional throughout the processes. Perhaps we just got unlucky.
