Default AAM Short Tails Fitment Issues

Hi folks!

I just installed my short tails on my '13 base and the passenger side seems to be much lower than the drivers (1.5-2" drop). I added the largest hangar washer to the drivers side so it would stop the exhaust from coming in contact with the bumper. The fitment for the drivers side looks perfect.

I don't have photos as it was getting dark when I had to park the Z.

I didn't add a hangar washer to the passenger side and it still hangs lower than the drivers side with the washer. Has anyone else had similar fitment issues?

I can't touch the car until this weekend but I'm just trying to figure out how I went wrong. I will probably start troubleshooting by loosening all the bolts for the hangars and nuts on the exhaust to readjust.

Also, does anyone have the instructions straight from AAM on the install? I found where the instructions would be on their site but it's not available (404).

Thanks!

I had an issue with my install and had to send back for replacement due to fitment issue with one of the tails. The bad tail I received was so far off, that it seemed that it was fabricated for another vehicle. Received my replacement and all fit well.

Recommend that you contact AAM for a replacement tail.

That's the thing, I bought this used from a fellow forum member and it fit fine on his car. I think I need to just loosen up all the bolts and readjust. Did you use the washers? If so, what sizes did you use on the driver / passenger side?

Figured it out. The passenger side hangar was not set right and the weld was cracked. We rewelded it to match the other pipe and it fits perfectly.

I had the same issue, driver side was fine yet passenger was slightly off, almost touching bumper. I contacted AAM and after some back and forth, they suggested I send it back to them so they could examine it.

even when the pipe wasn't attached to the hanger, it was out of place. almost no weight was being placed on the hanger.

there was no way I was going to send it back (at my own cost I assume, since they offered nothing in the way of shipping) and roll around with nothing after the axle.

although the exhaust itself sounds great, it will only be a placeholder until I do the full exhaust. Altogether.... disappointing. especially here in Canada.

Those are the ones you bought from me. It was like that on my Z as well. After pulling down as much on the right one and pushing up as hard on the left one, this is as close as I could get them. I was half tempted to loosen the stock mid-pipe and see if I could possibly rotate it a bit, OR drill out the mounting holes on the AAM flange to give a little more wiggle room. In the end, I just said the heck with it and left it as is.

Despite the slight fitment issue, I hope you like them!
