Topspeed axleback owners?
2 Attachment(s)
Hey all,
I'm going to be changing up my exhaust setup this spring, and I am not interested in purchasing a $2000 axleback such as GT Haus or Meisterschaft. Short tails are too loud for me, but TopSpeed pretty much as the market cornered for affordable axlebacks that have an integrated muffler. I know when they first appeared, they were designed for the Nismo only, and looked like this, and some folks put them on their regular 370z's and they stuck out 1"+ behind the bumper. Since then, they offer beveled tips, with no holes in the tips, and claim they only stick out .5" Does anyone have this newer version? Anyone know just how far they actually stick out? Yes I searched. |
I'm also curious about this. I've searched, watched youtube videos and even contacted Beluga racing (it's just a rebranded topspeed). Beluga confirmed with me that they do stick out.
|
well idk if it helps or not but I have this on my nismo and it pretty much lines up with the lip of the bumper. which on a sport model it would stick out a little bit if I had to guess correctly
|
They will still stick out just as much as the Z pictured.
Here's mine and if you reference how far the Nismo bumper angles out compare to the sport you'll have a clear view of what you'll have if you indeed purchase these. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...F8B1B3B5F7.jpg |
Thanks for the replies.
TopSpeed wrote back to my email, and confirmed that their axleback products are indeed designed for the NISMO. There is no TopSpeed axleback that was specifically designed for the base bumper. They have no plans to make one either. I am sure AAM has sold a zillion pairs of the short tails, and even Topspeeds axleback for the NISMO I am sure has sold well - I think there would definitely be a market for an axleback with a muffler that actually fits the 370z with a base bumper. But what do I know, none of these manufacturers seem to agree. |
Looks same as Beluga axle back.

info@belugaracing.com, sales@manzousa.com, info@topspeedauto.com I wrote to them in Nov 2015 -- I have a few questions about your Infiniti G37 axle back exhaust. On many of the Infiniti forums, it is common acceptance that all of the axle back exhausts (Beluga, M2, Manzo, Top Speed, OBX, Megan, etc..) are all exactly the same products probably shipped thru Alibaba from China. I am interested in purchasing one soon but have not decided which brand to go with, hence this email. My question for you would be is that a fair statement to make? Do you build your own exhaust? What makes your axle back better than the competition? And yes, it's okay if they are all exactly the same product as customer service, reputation and price are always a factor in my purchases. My apologies if this puts you in an odd position, I'm more interested in honesty than a load of bull. Manzo -- Although our exhausts do have the same design as the others you are stating, we get them from different factories overseas. Not all of these brands are from China either. Megan Racing is actually made in Taiwan. Some companies will offer shipping through Alibaba from China, however, we do not. Our products, although made in China, ship from the United States to our customers. The main thing that sets our exhausts apart from others out there is the price difference and quality. Many other China factories out there will use low quality materials to manufacture their product. However, even though ours is also made in China, we do pay our factories a higher cost for using better quality steel and materials than the other brands. Beluga -- Hi, thank you very much for the email. We manufacture our own exhausts, and our factory is in Taiwan and not China. Our exhausts are made out of T304 stainless with high quality TIG welding, and it comes with 1 year warranty. We understand some other companies offers very similar parts since it's hard to reinforce the copy right in China, but you can definitely tell the quality difference. I hope this answers your question. Thank you. Top Speed -- I cannot speak for the other brands but I can assure you that our parts are not manufactured or shipped by a third party like alibaba. These are designed by us here in the Dallas, TX area, but the actual production takes place at our exclusive factory in Taiwan. Really all it boils down to is this: is it good quality of metal being used, with TIG welding and mandrel pipe bending? Are the welds solid? Does it fit well? Do you like the sound? Beyond that, you're just paying for the hype, brand name, and marketing spin in the advertising. Top Speed Auto Accessories, Inc. has been the largest designer, manufacturer, and seller of automotive performance bolt-on products in Texas for over 19 years. You will have to decide for yourself what you want for your car, but consider our company history, warranty, and ease of accessibility whenever you have a question, when deciding who to buy from. I'll leave you to make your own decisions.... With all of this said... I did purchase a Top Speed axle back for Christmas and just installed it this evening. I have driven it about 25 miles tonight. It sounds great outside of the car but since I have a modified exhaust (custom "y" pipe with Magnaflow muffler , larger pipes etc.. which I absolutely love but wanted slightly louder) it is a bit too loud for my wife inside of the car. Again -- outside- I love it and so does she, but inside- a little loud with the windows up and the modified exhaust system I have. I will try to get a video or two tomorrow and will post. In regards to the original question... the fitment was spot on, overall of product was excellent, didn't stick out too much and no bending of any brackets. |
Thanks for that post, interesting.
Would definitely welcome pics of your installed axleback, but it is on a G37, so I am not entirely sure of the fitment differences as it relates to the rear bumper of a 'base' 370z. |

Nick M -- I would imagine that the fit should be close on the 370 since the axle back exhausts are all supposed to be the same. BUT -- I have seen quite a few that do stick out an ugly amount on G37's before... my guess is if it fits the G nicely, it would fit the Z nicely.
Follow up with video and pics ... By the way, I still think it sounds awesome and the fit and finish is perfect. It is also for sale... my wife won on this decision.... :( youtube video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNzs...ature=youtu.be |
Base on the spec from Manzo, is 202SS. not 304 like the others, not sure what real difference it makes, but the price is $64.00 cheaper than Top Speed.

Also, do you have any other exhaust mods? |
I gave up on trying to weed through multiple suppliers, tip lengths, etc. and just went with the Tanabe Medalion exhaust. So glad I did, it's perfect for me. I wanted this style exhaust tip, a relatively quiet system for daily driving, and also something that can get rowdy under WOT. It's just a tad loud on cold start up but then it quites down to the perfect level after a minute or two. No rasp, no drone, and you really have to listen for the VQ hiss - it's hardly noticeable. But when you open it up past ~3,500 rpm she screams :happydance:
Additional exhaust mods in my signature too though. So just that system alone would be even quieter. |
