EBay "J2" exhaust review

So, I was looking for a decent sounding exhaust for my recently purchased Z and didn't want to spend $1200 so I tried out a cheap option just to see how things went and overall I was impressed. Welds seem to be good, all the hangers were in proper locations and the install was pretty straightforward with no modification needed to fit. All the flanges mated up well and I have no leaks to speak of at the moment. As the title says it's the J2 exhaust from dna motorsports on eBay. I also used the j2 y pipe which I don't have pictured. Only complaint is that it BARELY touches the center chassis brace and makes a couple rattle noises upon startup, but I plan on wrapping the brace and pipe in titanium exhaust wrap to be sort of a cushion to prevent the noise. Oh, and did I mention it sounds AMAZING. The resonators seem to do their job and keep the raspiness to a minimum and drone is basically non existent. Overall I'm thoroughly satisfied with it for the price.

I have the same exhaust by different name...beluga also sell the same one and there is a version without the center chamber...I have no issue with it hitting the brace..

Looks good. How loud is it? At 75 cruising, at WOT?

I think you got a awesome bargain, it really gives other exhaust systems costing 2 0r 3 times as much a really good run for their money. Good job

Interesting design. Before and after dynos...?

Was yours a Nismo...? The OEM Nismo exhaust is pretty good... Hm. Well, how's it feel? Sounds nice.

JC-Nismo 12-24-2015 05:26 AM

That sounds friggin great man!!!
Kudos for not breaking the bank on overpriced exhaust systems which sound pretty much same as yours. I'm sure many will follow your lead after hearing your sound clip.

It's barely louder than the OEM nismo exhaust at 75, but still no annoying drone. At wot it's still not obnoxiously loud, but much louder than the nismo exhaust. That was my problem with the nismo exhaust, it just wasn't loud enough I don't see the point in having a "sport" exhaust that's like a $1500 option that you can barely hear? Haha

I know this exhaust is much lighter, so that's a factor to consider. I didn't have any means for weight it other than just feel. I'd say overall it has to be a minimum of 15-20lbs lighter. Yes mine is a nismo, and I haven't dyno'd the car. Would be interested to see the numbers though. The piping is bigger than the oe nismo, and feels more responsive with this one, so I'm just assuming it's an improvement.

Do you have pictures from the trunk looking down at the tips? I'm curious to see how much they stick out?

They don't stick out at all.

Thanks man!

Even with the non nismo rear bumper?

I wonder what the difference between this, the beluga, and some no name at all exhaust.

They range in prices from what i've been looking at.
