I wanted to chime in with the current status of the R&D process. So as most of you know, I went back to the dyno today. The numbers were favorable and we did see an increase of torque and power. This was the first phase of the headers. We are going to tweak some things about the headers and dyno the car again next Tuesday or Wednesday. What were are trying to achieve is to make the highest gains across the board without having to tune the car. Once we feel that we have achieved that, we will dyno the car again with a re-tune. To this point I have to say I am overall pleased with the outcome. They have gains as I stated, they sound great and reduce the interior noise resonance and last but certainly not least, so far no CEL! As of right now I would rather not divulge too much information as to what we are doing. There will be no dyno charts posted or sound clips until I launch the LTH thread. I expect to do that once all of the testing is completed. I know alot of you are anxious and we appreciate all of your support. In addition, I know that you all understand that we have to make sure our testing is complete before we release too much information. If anyone has any questions, as I always say please do not hesitate to ask...

Thank you, Tony

Sounds good Tony, let's hope their price doesn't double now coz of the added R&D time haha

Wow. How do the headers "reduce the interior noise resonance"?? Interesting indeed.

Not surprised he doesnt post dynos...supersprint have been making those for the 03- 06 and 07 + 350z which with a full exhaust is worth TOGETHER 8whp....
Those are a little shorter tube then the fi...but with mines etc...you would think if longtubes really were worth any power they would at list sell them with all those years selling 350z parts!

those look like garbage compared to Tony's though. I doubt there was a lot of design time in that. But I could be wrong, and looks are objective

The Stillen headers did the same thing. I'm not surprised. It's because the stock manifold has unequal length tubing. When you replace those with equal length tubing, the smooths out the sound somewhat.

Thanks for the clarification Semtex. Do you have the stillen headers? Just curious to see which one performs better and which one sounds better. Granted I know that the gains will be minimal - however just like most of the folks here on the forum, I only want the best to fit on the Z. Ya digg?

Well the fact that the Stillen headers by themselves make between 10-15hp, and the fact that these headers eliminate the cats which see gains of 10-15hp, leads me to believe that these headers should make substantial gains, probably closer to 20whp. My old Eclipse GT with the RIPP long tubes with a tune netted me 38whp, so I dont see why these wouldnt make quite a bit of juice.

Tony thank you for the update!

i am impressed that you want to go the distance with this project to ensure the best possible gains across the board...

highly respectable and look forward to the results of the next phase

Thsi picture may be inappropriate on a vendors thread but they are meant as a comparison as its the only longtubes on sale...

If you think supersprint stuff is garbage and tuned without some effort youre an idiot that live under a rock....they make headers and exhaust for some of the fastest:
-m5 m3
-ferraris going back from the old one to the california
-audis
etc....
Its probably the most known name in european exhaust systems. Very pricey yes; but doubting they put time to develop anything is just what it is. dumb.

Are you sure the stockers are UL? This being a V6...UL headers cause pulse crams that negatively affect performance. I would think Nissan put EL headers from the start, I was under that impression.

Stillen headers did not make 10-15hp. I'm not even looking for more than 5whp from the FI, I'm only looking for how much torque they will pickup...since thats apparently LTH's claim to fame.

Highly respectable that he does research on a product he is developing? come on, he is doing what he is supposed to do.
