Interesting. I didnt think about that. Now i wonder how the car and MAF's look with going to a bigger size and not having a tune for it. Im sure Z1 tested but still.

Confirmed the 2.5" from Z1.

I asked them about the ID and they responded that it's 2.5".

Hope they're right.

most intakes neck down at the MAFs to keep from needing a tune. look at still g3's and you can see it.

also I believe at 2.5 there's no need for a tune.

mine are 2.75 or 3 I cant remember without measuring but they required a MAF map that was emailed to me to add with my uprev cable.

So I have some interesting results to say the least. It will be heavy with dyno info. I think it might need a separate thread. In short, I saw 0 gains on the dyno, but the butt dyno tells me differently. This is with Z1 intakes AND AAM midpipes.

did you tune or alter the tune on the car after the addition of the parts?

Aam intakes work wonders with right tuner. 2.75 diameter makes a big difference, and they don't neck down. Local g37 sedan has just Aam intakes and a street tune, and it keeps up with almost full bolt on z and g, if not beating them.

Interesting. I am seriously considering going the AAM intake route. I would go the Z1 route but would like to see more reviews (and #'s of course) from current users.

One thing nice about the Z1 intake is it doesn't neck down so there isn't any turbulence from that. AAM's sleeve at least makes it a smooth transition. Everything else that necks down looks like a terrible design. And the AEMs are being discontinued. They only support 2011 and below anyways. I had a set that worked perfect and made great gains, and the other that was terrible lol.

Well all i have to add is since i ditched my stillen gen 3 copy i made and went to 2.75" intakes i made, ive been down on power from every friend and other on these forums! 2 tuners have given me a complete tune using those. Everytime i add a new part and retune i lose power. Ive desided it was the 2.75" intakes. Now i have stillen gen 3 originals and going back for a retune again. If i cant pull 320+ hp then my motor has a big problem! But im keeping my fingers crossed its the intake. I think stillen has it right. Maybe our motor just doesnt have enough for bigger intakes.

i gained a bit more with my 2.75" intakes.

maybe due to being homemade from the hardware store made the difference for you.....

No im gonna say 2.75" aluminium intake pipes the same no matter where you get it and having 2.75" CNC machined MAF housings was good too. O yeah and did i mention Z1 couplings and the K&N filters from a gen 3? Pretty sure the hardware store doesnt sell that stuff. And you admit to an Etune. I call BS on gaining power since your tiny little bhole isnt a dynojet.

was not an etune. I received a MAF map to get the car running properly based on not necking down to make the stock map not work.

then took the car to AAM for a full tune even though without a tune I still put down more than most with one.

and as for your last sentence I don't speak retard. if you wanna rephrase maybe I can clear up your confusion about the dyno? I was on.
