Default R2C PF10544 Black Hex drop in air filter

R2C PF10544 Black Hex drop in air filter

After reading several people's concern over the porous + oil style of the k&n filters, I came across this non oil high flow style from R2C. I have not been able to find any reviews on it and decided to just ask if anyone had experience with it?

Nissan 370Z Cold Air Intake Systems. (Scroll down some to find the drop in)

I have these on my 370Z, best drop in hands down. looks pretty sick too

I was going to make a thread.... the best ari filter manufacturer in the world finally made a drop in for our Z's Fitment was perfect, and it feels as if they just cut through the air. As far as drop in, this is IT

Hmmm.... I've also been looking to get some drop-ins myself but have been hesitant about oiled ones... these definitely look promising!

GZ3 I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the filters. I have ordered myself a pair and will add my impressions to the thread.

Completely stock Z going from oem paper to these R2Cs

Installed these filters this week. Only a few WOT i have been able to pull off, it has been raining like crazy in florida. I would say the sound at idle isnt much noticeable, but as soon as you give it additional rpm you can definately tell. You can hear the air rushing through them were the oem paper would seem somewhat muffled in comparison. It is like taking a big inhale through a clear nose. I would not say it is louder, it is possible it maybe just slightly quieter from the absence of that restriction. I maybe wrong hard to say not listening side by side. I definately have not driven it enough for the ecu to recalibrate yet, so not sure on HP or MPG yet. I am not sure i would even be able to tell of something that might yield a 1% increase. The sound of the air rushing through it though leads me to believe it is flowing a lot better than oem, whatever the ecu plans to do with that extra air we will see. Loving it and would never go back to the oem paper at this point. i would post a followup impression later.

I personally removed the R2C logo in the top left corner. R2C told me it would be fine just be careful of the urethane and media. they also said that they tested it with and without it and were getting 400 scfm. my alien brain wanted to remove it though and not have it in there. it is a thin piece of metal with a dab of glue behind it. you can take a small razor under the urethane if you want and i used a steak knife gently prying in the center and got it off in under 5 minutes each.

BTW... has anybody tried the R2C CAI system? I searched for posts and came up empty. Pretty impressive power gains (18 hp) and you don't need to remove the bumper to clean the filters. It still has a partial air box which I assume helps keep some of the engine radiated heat out... I was planning to do K&N drop ins until I saw this post.

I just heard back from R2C and suggested I was planning on cleaning mine once a year and they said that would be fine. I also asked about PSI to blow it out with and they said 50-60 PSI or if you had unregulated air to hold it further away from the filter.

Every month i take em out and tap them clean. If too dirty, air pressure, and if its just caked on, ill do mild soap and water. Just make sure they dry completely... This is from r2c

Cool, thanks. I think I'll order these. It sounds easier than messing with the oil on K&N!
