Which is louder?
Aam short tails or non res fast intentions exhaust?
Opinions on the drone comparison as well, how is drone with the FI non res exhaust. I got aam with berk hfc and drone is pretty bad over 3500 rpm, will i experience same with a non res exhaust from fast intentions |
Resonators do not significantly affect exhaust volume, they are designed to eliminate drone. Thus, your AAM short tails without the mufflers will be much louder than the FI CBE.

Would non res drone be more than aam drone? I would think no mufflers would cause more drone than no resonators |

I'd give Tony at call at FI. He can better explain the issue of drone and how resonators work. In sum, drone occurs at specific frequencies and the resonators are designed to mute those frequencies (it's simply a resonating chamber that cancels those sound waves in a specific frequency).
Your AAM short tails may be contributing to your drone, Mufflers, while primarily intended to quiet an exhaust, can also assist in reducing drone as they both operate to cancel sound waves. Personally, if the drone is a problem and you want loud exhaust, I'd speak with an exhaust shop regarding the addition of a couple of resonators, or you could try to add an after market mid pipes with resonators. |
I just ask since i want a FI exhaust but i would get non res if it is less drone than muffler delete but i would get res installed if it is more drone

Thats the kind of input i was looking for. I may end up going non res on a fi exhaust

Right now I am running FI non-res CBE with no other modifications and the drone is definitely there, but I don't really notice that much anymore. It really just depends at what speed and rpm you are driving. If I am in 6th gear cruising at 65 or 70, its pretty quiet. Louder than stock, but quiet. If you pass someone, you will hear for it sure. But to answer your question, I would bet that you will still have quite a bit of drone with non-res CBE, especially with the HFC.
