Stock filter looks like a K&N

Does the stock filter appear to resemble the K&N. Can someone explain to a newbie the difference in technical aspects of the K&N red filters vs our stock red filters.

i thought the stock ones were made with paper like material and the K&N's have a purple'ish colour cotton material which needs to be oiled.

a friend of mine on here dyno'ed his Z with only K&N filters as the difference and got a few hp accross the entire powerband... no tuning was done either...... not bad for just filters !!

The stock filters are paper. K&N filters are oiled cotton. If you want an explanation on the advantages, I suggest you visit K&N's website, as they explain it all there.
