"There appears to be a diffuser plate that gets in the way." The Stillen rep was uncertain whether or not this plate can be removed or modified to allow installation of the intake system. /sigh |

What's the purpose of the plates? Any cons of removing them?

Not 100% sure. Probably to keep the airflow a little bit more laminar. The nismo nose is longer and they don't want air curling around the front bumper support. It's not a big deal to remove, if you are putting the g3's on, and if it does cause a problem you can always rivet them back on. I pulled mine off to put on the nismo front brace. Had to cut a slot in them to make it fit and then riveted them right back on.

Well. HalfwY there. If I had another person to help or if I was more confident in my mechanical abilities I would be done by now. Have to wait a couple more weeks now. But It will fit as already stated by others

Don't think they would fit. Probably would not need them on a non nismo as I think the bumper is closer to the core support. Not 100% sure. Nobody has let me take there 370z bumper apart yet.
