"There appears to be a diffuser plate that gets in the way."

The Stillen rep was uncertain whether or not this plate can be removed or modified to allow installation of the intake system.

Yep, there are some air flow plates in there that the non-nismo does not have. They can be removed, three rivets and a bolt per side. The Injen CAI does not interfer because it goes down into the bumper area in front of the wheel well. DSC00181.jpg

What's the purpose of the plates? Any cons of removing them?

Looking at the difference in gains/sound reviewed by other members, I'll only go with shorter intakes if the Stillen G3 simply will not work. Plus, not sure if it can be changed, but I like the color of the G3 filters!

I wonder if putting the Nismo ducts on a non Nismo car will help stock intakes get better air flow?

Exclamation

Well. HalfwY there. If I had another person to help or if I was more confident in my mechanical abilities I would be done by now. Have to wait a couple more weeks now. But It will fit as already stated by others

Could you briefly describe any hiccups you've had along the way? What's causing the delay?

Good luck man!

Hiccups are that there are a few differences on the nismo bumper than on the fang bumper and there isnt much info that is helpful. That and I am probably being overly cautious. Any how, we got the berk cats, stillen g3 and short shift done yesterday.

Here are some picks and I owe a lot of thanks (and some cash) to my brother in law who happens to have a lift which made doing these mods possible.

A few pics-

You can see the diffuser which I didnt have to do anything to, but is now a little out of alignment to make the g3 fit.

And a few pics of my baby on the lift.
The lift saved us HOURS and was MUCH safer than how I started on my own.

Overall nismo fans, I would highly recomend these mods. The car sounds incredible, feels noticibly torquier (and Im not past break-in so Im not pushing past 4k rpms YET) and their are no CELS so far but only 200 miles on it so far. The short shift kit is awesome but a pita to file away for reverse and get just right. lots of filing for 15 seconds, put back together, test, take apart, repeat.

It was a great day and very rewarding but a lot of hard work, laughs, and cursing.

I love it.

Don't think they would fit. Probably would not need them on a non nismo as I think the bumper is closer to the core support. Not 100% sure. Nobody has let me take there 370z bumper apart yet.
