370z Nismo Tomei Ground Clearance Issues?
Hey Guys, I recently finished installing the new 370z Tomei ExpremeTi exhaust and noticed there is very little ground clearance for the rear of the exhaust.
I'm currently riding at stock height but was planning to drop it an inch or two... Given the little amount of ground clearance I'm re-thinking that plan. Has anyone else installed the new 370z version and seen ground clearance issues? I'm hoping I did something stupid like install a pipe upside down but looking for confirmation. Not sure if it's better or not but it's loud as heck... My main issue is with the pipe connecting to the muffler, the one that swings out. It has maybe 5" of ground clearance. I've already scrapped the pipe on a flat road w/ stock suspension.
Just seems A LOT lower then past exhausts I've used on other vehicles. |

Well... I am in a load of trouble if the clearance really is that low for stock. I am already lowered. Hopefully this issue isn't that bad. Does the mid-pipe go through the middle of the sway bar then come back around?

I scrape the pipe that tucks under the rear differential. High speeds and bumps don't mix well for the Tomei. Everyone behind me said they liked the titanium sparks at Zdayz
If you are lowered expect that piece to get scratched up. The only good news is that Z1 said you will be able to buy just that piece if it ever gets worn out or damaged to heavily.

I'm bagged and ride my car with less than .5 inches of wheel gap front and rear. Dampening set to 18 on all four corners, sitting on a 20 inch wheel. I have no issues. It is pretty on par with the version 1 FI exhaust system with the angle of that pipe.

Well that is more comforting to know. I'll be getting this version of the Tomei later this week I just don't want to be worried that I'll scrape that piece up too badly.

I don't know about the tomei, but my Invidia sits pretty low where the mid pipe connects. Right by the control arm, I have like an inch or two of clearance on that pipe but don't scrape it often and I'm always flying over bumpy roads.

Thank you for all the replies guys... Given the comment that the pipe can be replaced w/o purchasing a whole entire exhaust, I feel a little better. I plan to drop it and just go with it. Thanks again guys!

It also looks like you could rotate that pipe a little and get it higher up. I'm dropped on HKS GT IVs and I scrape but it's because my preload isn't set right and the car is soft right now.
