So I'm about to go to the shop to fab up my intake. I used the housing off the factory box for the maf. For the mean time before I head to the shop I stuck the filters directly on the maf housing just to drive it over there. Well it's loud but the car isn't really going anywhere. It feels really sluggish. What causes this?

Yours MAF's are hating you. They need to be in a nice long straight piece. With the filters right there who knows what kinda air they're getting. That's why most cars have these...

Check everything over but once the intake is complete it should be fine.

Doing a short ram is taking a step backwards. Why would you modify the factory intake to make it a worse condition?

AH the old honeycombs. I remember we could remove the sides and the bottom combs on our DSM's to get some added flow and pick up a few WHP and throttle response.

Read back on the thread, I'm not doing just a short ram, I'm gonna finish it into a cold air next month. I would do it all today but don't have time to. I'll try to post Pics if I get a chance to

Yes they do kill power unless your run into the MAF sucks then they should help haha. My car was crazy like this once with a ram air effect until I figured it out. It was fine on wot but closed loop it ran like **** if a gust of wind on the highway came into the bumper hole and into the intake.

It's not too bad as a short ram, it losses power on low end but about 4 to 7 it screams and picks up a little quicker. I know as soon as I am done it will be better. I'm in south Texas and it's hotter than Satan's nutt sack here. Even with the humidity of a ******* steam room the short ram is performing better than I thought.
