Uprev retune 4/22

I'm scheduled to get retuned 4/22 @ 1pm. I wanted to do some independent testing w/ the Z1 manifold, but didn't want to pay to have the shop install it after getting a baseline. Unfortunately, it'll only show gains from uprev retune as my baseline will already have the z1 manifold.

I will also be adding new throttle maps

I'll update post w/ graphs

baseline:
uprev
z1 manifold
motordyne art
fast intentions non-res cbe
stillen gen 3

new:
uprev retuned
z1 manifold
motordyne art
fast intentions non-res cbe
stillen gen 3

Depending on dyno should prob get 320 ish whp

Japanjay 04-20-2015 06:59 PM

I would hope more than that. I am 319 with gen3's, z1 test pipes, tomie y, tomie y-back.

ANMVQ 04-21-2015 07:07 AM

Where you going tomorrow ? I making pulls Z1 Vs M370 this Saturday. 320's is wishful thinking. My buddy has a fully bolt Z and made 317 WHP tuned. But depends on dyno of course :)

chrischhorn 04-21-2015 07:18 AM

The manifold is more for giving more mid range power and a bigger, and broader power curve. Not top end. Some people it helps and some people it hurts top end but the main use of the manifold is to get peak torque sooner and hold longer and make power between 2500 - 6500 rpms more so then 6.5 - 7.5k rpms.

So basically, i see you making 319whp if you did previously but if you overlay graphs, your powerband should be more broad which means sooner, higher, and longer holding torque in turn providing hp sooner but not so much more of it.

I'll be at Granite State today @ 1230PM

I have all dyno run files from my last visit and I will make sure I get them today too. I really wanted to do back to back runs w/ stock manifold and Z1 manifold, I just didn't want to pay them to install it since it's such a straight forward install.

ANMVQ 04-22-2015 07:00 AM

You should have they were only going to charge me like 50$. But I had the wrong Mani. :/ BTW did they tune your car also ?
I flipped my Z1 on yesterday before the gym, LOL I had an hour to kill before the wife got home.. Tell Mike , Mike with the G37X sedan say HI!

mag_black 04-22-2015 09:06 AM

Yes, they tuned it last year. One of the reasons I installed the mani was because I was bored one day, so I know exactly what you're talking about, haha.

mag_black 04-22-2015 10:29 PM

Well hard to say what was happening w/ the Z1 manifold. Since last year this is what changed:

new tires
275/35/19 305/30/19
new wheels
SSR SP3 19x9.5 and 19x11
oil cooler

I'm waiting on dyno run files. Tuner didn't really spend too much time on it. He did about 4-5 pulls and came back saying it's not doing anything. I guess, thanks for trying? :wtf2:

V8Killer 04-23-2015 06:28 AM

Wtf?

ANMVQ 04-23-2015 07:38 AM

Yea we know things change the WHP number will change , but I'm guessing he didn't retune for the intake, We spoke about clearing the learned fuel settings after swapping the intake. I think just four pulls not really sure how much could have been seen, We all know that the ECU "learns" diving patterns. I don't think it would even have "relearned" till the 3 or 4th pull. :/. Thank you for the info tho!! We are trying LOL

I'll have some also on Saturday on my Z1.

mag_black 04-23-2015 10:25 AM

I'm a little disappointed that it seemed like he didn't try hard enough. So much has changed since last year so it's hard to tell what it's doing. Butt dyno says midrange improved while driving (before I went to tune). The drivability seemed much better.

My numbers from yesterday's 5 pulls were 303/250. Hopefully when I get my run files, I can compare to last years runs.

370Z JT 04-23-2015 12:20 PM

They have a dyno jet? 303 is low.

mag_black 04-23-2015 04:54 PM

Yep, two Dynojets. I forget the model#

mind you:
I pulled 301 /240 w/ stillen G3 and fast intentions cbe

stock wheels, swift springs
245 40 19
275 35 19

chrischhorn 04-23-2015 07:20 PM

The SSR's are significantly heavier than the Oem Rays aren't they?

mag_black 04-23-2015 08:29 PM

Chris, they aren't that heavy, but they are heavier. I think I remember weighing them at 24lbs for the front and 27-29 for rear.

edit:

according to the tuner, " It lost everywhere, I had to add timing to make up for lost power."

chrischhorn 04-23-2015 09:30 PM

4-5 lbs per wheel plus the extra weight of more tire is pretty significant when it comes to wheel weight. First step in my opinion would be check for vacuum leaks. Especially make sure the seal between the new manifold and lower plenum is good. You torqued the manifold down in the correct sequence correct?

370Z JT 04-23-2015 11:11 PM

maybe you made nice gains under the curve. looking forward to dynosheets.

That's what I'm hoping too. I still haven't received my dyno run files.

Yes I did, I followed the service manual

ANMVQ 04-24-2015 02:08 PM

IDK lest see what the run files say? Someone say low, I made some pulls on theirs a few weeks back and made 256 WHP and 218 WHTRQ ! We all know that's wrong. Mine was chalked up to they had the dyno set for a full time AWD. :/

enrique_370 04-27-2015 03:56 PM

How do you like the z1 headers are they worth the money.

I only installed the Z1 manifold. Butt dyno says I got some midrange power, but dyno says my peak numbers didn't move at all. I'm going to call them tomorrow to get my drf files.
