You might have some gains on the high end, but you will definitely feel a noticeable loss in power low-end because of less back pressure.
Why would you go with that exhaust if you don't plan on going turbo? Just wondering? There are plenty of great exhausts out there. |

A GReddy Ti-C on a stock car will still make more low-end torque than a stock car. It just might make one or two lb-ft of torque in low-RPMs vs. a car with perhaps any other cat-back. Of course, if we are assuming a loss of torque down low with no evidence to back it up, it's safe to say that it will make up for it at the top-end on the same premise. I don't plan on "going turbo" as many dreamers do, yet the Ti-C is my choice of exhaust thus far. It's 2.75" vs. 2.5" providing more flow and features titanium mufflers. It's presumably lighter than the other offerings from all the other tuner-shops and it looks better then the others, to boot. |

Well, i don't think it is "completely blown out of proportion". Gas will expand to fill a space. So, a larger diameter exhaust will result in exhaust gases expanding to fill the area, and subsequently cooling faster as it spreads out. Cooler air is more dense, meaning too rapid a cooldown will rob you of volume expansion (gas expands when heated). Volume expansion is a driver in pushing exhaust gases out of your car as it moves toward the lower pressure found at the exhaust tips. So, a drop in expansion will slow the gases leaving the exhaust, robbing you of power low-end. It is not as much of a problem the higher you go on the RPM band because the gases are heated to a higher temperature, lessening the cooldown effect.
There is also a member on another thread on here who installed the GTM 3" exhaust (its not 2.75", but it gets the points across) as he plans to install a TT. He himself said he felt a little less power low-end. I never said it wouldn't "make up for it at the top-end on the same premise". As I stated above, he will be fine the higher the rpm's. |

I've only had Greddy exhausts on my cars. I don't think I'll ever change to be frank. 2.75 in isn't all that big. It's perfect for those that are contemplating TT's down the line or that just simply want a nice true dual exhaust on a NA car. 3" exhaust would def be overkill but I think this is right where I'd want to be. Nice to have options in terms of which way I'd want to go on a vehicle.
As someone else stated above I doubt you will lose much if any power down low.....but your top end will most definitely improve. In fact don't be surprised to if you pick up a couple of ponies down low as well. This whole backpressure talk has been going on for a while and has made for great debates within car communities.....but in a 2.75 in exhaust(mated to 3.7L) I wouldn't worry about it too much. Greddy makes great quality parts and prices them perfectly. Not to mention I've never been disappointed in sound quality. Last edited by zman1910; 10-20-2009 at 05:11 PM. |

Low-end should def be better than a 3" diameter, but you just won't get as much as a 2.5" and you might (I stress might) lose out compared to stock. But, you should most certainly see some nice gains mid to high-end. And in the end, that's what counts. |
