Berk HFC dyno results

also posted in the general section, figured I'd post it here under exhaust, particularly because people come to this thread to find out about results with exhaust mods..

15whp gain, was unable to obtain TQ numbers due to the tech being a dumbass.

370zdub 10-16-2009 09:11 PM

Nice gains!

Red370 10-16-2009 09:15 PM

yeah, not too shabby! I see you're waiting on berk stuff, hfc's?

JB1 10-16-2009 10:06 PM

Thanks for posting this! besides the nice gains, how do you like the HFC's sound wise? I have them too (with stock exhaust) and can feel the performance gains but I can't stand the sound. Especially after hearing the Stillen CBE on another forum members Z...

He he he...let me know when you're sick of your cats and we can try them on my car to see just how it sounds.

Josh@STILLEN 10-16-2009 10:31 PM

HFCs provide some amazing gains.. "feel-able" gains.. those are good numbers. We've seen the same result.

JB1, I know Monday the STILLEN CBE's are going on sale, keep an eye out if that's a consideration, should be a good deal.. :)

I LOOOOVE the way it sounds, almost afraid to get a full CBE because I dont want to change it. If I do get a CBE though, its gonna be either the Stillen or the FI, if I can get the Stillen setup cheaper, im gonna be going with that one.

As soon as I'm ready to rip them off, I'll let you know :-)

Can you do another sale towards the end of the year? I should have my x-mas bonus by then... Piggy bank is empty at the moment :-( (otherwise I would order the CBE on Monday and spearfish could have tried my HFC's :D )

Yeah, but once you hear them with the Stillen CBE, you might want them right back!

Check the private classifieds on this forum for a good deal on a Stillen CBE (sorry Josh).

The sound of the HFC's is to raspy (or dare I say, Ricy...) for me. I heard the Stillen exhaust with stock cats and that sounds sooo good, real nice deep sound, not raspy nor ricy... oh and this is heard from inside the car, I don't care how it sounds from the outside, I don't hear the outside when I'm driving :icon17:

Hey, I said you could try them, not keep them ;)

No, all joking aside, I think CBE + HFC combo is too loud for me (yeah, yeah, wuss...)

Josh@STILLEN 10-17-2009 12:09 AM

Hey.. if you can find classified deals and stuff is in good order, nothing wrong with that. :) Just be sure it's not welded or has some other permanent modifications to it.. each Z can be a little different, can cause some headaches trying to move welded exhausts around.

And I would imagine there would be something around the holiday season, not sure if it's as aggressive as what's happening on Monday, but we definitely try to do what we can to give the holiday shoppers a chance to spread things around.. such a tough time..

Of course I'm curious what this amazing deal might be on Monday. I got my Stillen CBE at a darn good price with a rebate to boot.

Nice gains! Thanks for posting up your dyno. We took extra design considerations knowing that many of you will run Berk HFC's with our exhaust. All of the videos you have seen of our cat back have Berk HFC's installed. It's easy to make an exhaust sound great with the OEM cats, not so easy to do it with HFC's at the same time.

Mike @ Doubledown motorsports has put several thousand miles on his system with HFC's installed. You can hear the inside & outside sound clips here:

Nice gains! +rep

Ya know, the exhaust sounds really great with the HFC's by themselves! When does your CBE go on sale btw? And thanks Semtex!

jpit 10-21-2009 01:49 PM

I think that the Berk HFCs with the stock exhaust sounds the best. I just removed an aftermarket exhaust (Invidia) after two days because I didn't like the low frequency rumble.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum.

Was just wondering how I access pictures that you have posted such as Red370z's berk hfc dyno results at the beginning of this thread?

Some piccies come up embedded in the posts (not this one though), but some do not appear at all & I cant find any links.

Btw I have a base dyno run & another with stillen g3 intakes that I can post if anyone is interested, however they are all in kW due to our metric system which is a little frustrating...

Are you behind a corporate firewall?

damomck 10-21-2009 04:32 PM

Ahh.... That could be a possibility cos I'm at work at the moment. Cheers 4 the reply I'll check out this thread later on when I get home & see if I can view the results then.

Red370 10-21-2009 04:44 PM

It was a 15whp gain, with an approximate 12ft/lbs, the HFC's by far, are the best bang for the buck as far as money/power, get them asap, you'll love the gains/sound, it really hits a sweet note between 3500 and 5500rpms, sounds like a damn indy car, haha.

God I hate it when this happens!! Stupid techs seem to have found their way to Dubai too lol

Nice gains from just HFCs nevertheless!

How loud is Berk HFC with stock exhaust compared to say the Fast Intentions catback and stock catalytic converter?

Gibby1113 09-19-2013 12:44 AM

Do berk hfc cause any CELs to go off? I wonder how they would sound paired up w/ my DT-S......

No CEL probs

Apples to Oranges man....any aftermarket CBE will be louder with stock cats than a stock CBE paired with HFC's....I read ur previous thread regarding ur impressions/review on the FI exhaust....it seems that HFC's paired to the stock exhaust will fit to ur liking...the HFC's increase the sound of the stock exhaust but is not too deep/loud...plus overall the gains are nice

Gibby1113 09-22-2013 10:58 PM

So it's just a bolt on, plug in, and go?

KB2 09-22-2013 11:28 PM

Yes. However it can be quite a hassle to get the stock cats off....depending. some ppl have issues and otyers dont. But still a easy install. Just reset your ecu afterwards and let the car "learn" the new changes

Gibby1113 09-23-2013 10:36 PM

Oh ok. But I heard that hfc usually need the O2 curved bung so that it won't throw off any CELs. Do the berks have those?

Yes Berk HFC's comes complete with this set up...just plug and play...No CEL guaranteed

Cats are easy. :)
