I couldn't see spending $550 for Gen3 stillen setup. So I fabbed my own. Just thought I would share. I found a universal 2.75" charge air tubing kit for $120 and 2 dry flow K&N filters for $60. So I spent 2 evenings playing in the garage and made my own and saved $350. Not sure on the dyno #'s but with this cold air setup and a set of test pipes, you can feel a pretty big difference. Looks very nice. Is the piping stainless steel or aluminum?

Qwk69 03-28-2015 12:09 AM

Aluminum. I'm still learning how to TIG. I can't make the "stacked dimes" weld yet on alum.

damn looks very good.

Legit.

you would definetly need a tune because of that 2.7" MAF area, but u can always narrow down that part if not planning for tuning.

That looks awesome. The 2.75" would match very well with ported throttle bodies and a tune of course.

Overall looks extremely nice. As a constructive criticism (and if I may), I would give it a 8.9 out of 10 due to, as you mentioned "the welds" but if they seal the gap completely then is ok, aluminum clamps instead of zip ties at the joints and the position of the MAF sensors which are not on the same position corresponding to each other.
For being your first job on a intake system, you are light years ahead from most of us in this forum.
Well done sir.
