Top Speed Test Pipes Review

i got a set of resonated test pipes from top speed last week. they arrived in 4-6 business days like they said they would, they included the bolts and gaskets to go with them. these tp's were not expensive so i knew i wasn't going to be getting show quality tp's. the welds and everything is good, they just don't look as pretty as others.

i tried installing them myself, but i found it impossible to do. so i went and paid a shop to do it for me. everything fit nicely and the shop had it done in about an hour.

after the installation i could feel a little better acceleration from the tp's. however, paired with my stillen cbe, i can't say that i'm liking how it sounds. to me it feels like there is a lot of rasp. some of the people that have heard it say it doesn't sound as bad as i make it out to be. i'll give it a little bit more time to see if anything changes.

Same with mine, I have them on my stock Nismo exhaust and from inside the car it sounds a bit raspy at high rpms, but from the outside it sounds great. I guess when you totally remove the cats, some sort of rasp is gonna be present.

Did you also buy resonated test pipes? I have unresonated with my Nismo catback and it's definitely raspy above 2k to redline.

i still haven't got a chance to take a video, i haven't been home.

mine are resonated and there is rasp, but if you launch the car and gun it all the way through, i have noticed that there is no rasp then.

so try that once and see how it sounds. from 1st gear to 3rd gear gun it.

Mines are unresonated and the rasp is apparent above 4K when @ WOT.

Ive always thought that Stillen exhausts were known to be more raspy than most. I can remember a friend having a Stillen exhaust on his 99 Maxima a long time ago, and it was raspy in higher RPM.

When you add test pipes, and increase exhaust velocity and flow, you're going to amplify or increase the likelihood you're going to hear rasp. Makes sense.

my stillen cbe had 0 rasp before the test pipes. it didn't have any drone either.

Stillen CBE with test pipes=extreme rasp

I have unresonated top speed test pipes with the CNT CBE and the seems to be apparent more from in the cabin. But I had a friend drive my car while I was outside to hear it and the rasp isn't very apparent.

i can't agree with you there. there is a little rasp. i wouldn't say it's extreme or even close to it
