Aam misleading customers!!!!

Purchased a refurbished axel back exhaust from aam on eBay, all the pictures showed the actual refurbished pipes WITH the titanium burnt tips on them. Open the package they swapped them with regular polished tips. When I emailed customer service he tells me "we did that to show it as an option, polished tips were in the description. If you would like to purchase them it will be an extra $79." So congrats to them for misleading customers and tricking me into giving them my money. Will be the last time I buy from this company and hope a few of you follow suit.

The description reads on eBay "includes 4" polished tips"

If it would have read includes 4 inch stainless polish tips then maybe I would say okay but the word polished could mean they just cleaned them up because they refurbish. How about putting also (does not come with burnt tips) in my opinion it was a **** move and I recived a short **** email from them. " I have a screen shot to prove it says "includes 4" polished tips". That's customer service of a high school kid selling something on eBay. Imo

zeexu 01-26-2015 02:27 PM

Dont see how thats misleading when if it truly does say polished tips were in the description. Link to the buy page?

dP3NGU1N 01-26-2015 02:34 PM

Yeah, really don't think you were mislead. Sounds like you didn't ******* read the description. That's on you, not them.

I used to sell **** on ebay. People like you are ********.

370Z JT 01-26-2015 02:46 PM

That's misleading to me. They should of posted both types of tips to prove their point.

Dixnot 01-26-2015 03:10 PM

It is absolutely misleading tell me what was the point of even bothering taking pictures with the burnt tips. You can't tell me that wasn't done on purpose.

COSMO 01-26-2015 03:24 PM

Sneaky but one must be careful and ask when in doubt..

JARblue 01-26-2015 03:27 PM

Of course it was done on purpose. But if it says polished in the description you have no argument.

Advertising is built on misleading customers. Caveat emptor.

nismo13807 01-26-2015 03:31 PM

^ agree

FPenvy 01-26-2015 03:40 PM

Considering I've never heard anyone complain about aam as well as being treated extremely well by them personally I think the OP just misread the ad. Also what JAR said is true. Advertising typically will have a certain level of confusion.

nomodsjk 01-26-2015 03:41 PM

Oh the injustice! Next time pay more attention to what you're doing

Zbrah 01-26-2015 03:46 PM

Question is, did you read the description before purchasing, and did it said the sale is for polished tips?

ANMVQ 01-26-2015 05:56 PM

If you didn't read the description and it didn't stay burnt tips then it one you,
Misleading, Would you say that to a car dealer when I the news paper the car pictured is always the fully loaded model and says " Lease now for XXX" and you get there and its on the base car cause you didn't read the fine print ? Same thing man :/ SUX but same thing

01-26-2015 06:18 PM

Haha this guy

zefaulter 01-26-2015 07:04 PM

Link to eBay listing?

DEpointfive0 01-26-2015 07:27 PM

I'm going to say that it's super motherfuckery for a company to put pictures of the item when it's not actually the item.
I have actually fallen into that trap. Then I go back, check the description... FUUUUUUU... My fault...

It happens OP, live and learn. Maybe AAM will discount you a set of tips

kenchan 01-26-2015 07:36 PM

Taking notes... motherfuckery.. entered!

kenchan 01-26-2015 07:37 PM

Like how some vendors advertised their coil overs for 370z with built in front camber plates, turns out they're using stock photos of the product that was meant for another car. When shopping online you gotta asks questions and read the descriptions to make sure you're really getting what's being advertised.

DEpointfive0 01-27-2015 07:46 AM

OP, if this is the ad and hasnt been modified...

pics show both options - Yes.

description says specifically "Built from 304 stainless steel, the S-LINE Short Tails feature 2.5 inch pipes from the flanges to the 4 inch diameter polished stainless exhaust tips"

OP just didn't read enough I guess. this isn't AAM's fault.

and even further it lists the options list.

The listing includes 4" stainless steel tips -

Upgrade to the Titanium 4" tips for an additional $79

Upgrade to the Nismo 5" Polished tips for an additional $79

Upgrade to the Nismo 5" Titanium tips for an additional $158

the fail here is on the OP. going further the OP should not bash a company based on his/her own stupidity or lack of care to read the ad prior to purchasing.

DEpointfive0 01-27-2015 07:51 AM

FP, I was gonn let the OP confirm then confirm that he's blind, lol

JARblue 01-27-2015 07:59 AM

lol that's about the least deliberately misleading ad I've seen in a while. OP is completely at fault here. Four pics are of SS tips with only one pic of burnt tips. It's true the burnt tips are shown as the main photo, but that's the only misleading thing I could find in the ad. The description is incredibly clear and not at all misleading.

And complaining about the burnt tips in the picture is like the earlier car lease example given. They show the highest end model available and advertise it at the base model price. You're just going to look like an idiot if you go into the dealer and complain.

FPenvy 01-27-2015 08:05 AM

to the OP......

Pintsize725 01-27-2015 10:13 AM

Flag the listing for eBay violation rules and AAM will get an email to revise it. Pictures in the gallery are only supposed to show what is actually for sale but pictures of upgrade options can be embedded into the description. (Which is what should have been done.)

OP, try reaching out to AAM to get a quote on the upgrade. I'm sure they will be willing to work with you on it.

did you not read the listing?

it says exactly what it's for and the pics are showing the upgrade option to burnt tips.

there is no foul play or misleading info. the OP is simply blind or dumb.

it says in BIG RED letters to "PLEASE READ CAREFULLY in the description. how much more clear do they have to be?

I can read, thank you. That doesn't change the fact that the two main gallery images show the upgrade option instead of what is actually listed for sale. Ergo, they are in violation of eBay rules so OP can flag it for them to correct it. :twocents:

JARblue 01-27-2015 10:24 AM

Unless you can upgrade to and purchase the burnt tips within that same listing, I'm going to agree with Pintsize in that if there is an ebay policy regarding photos that are not for sale in that listing, then the burnt tip photo is a violation of that policy.

That being said, I still think the OP needs to learn from his mistake rather than blame AAM.

FPenvy 01-27-2015 10:30 AM

ok so 2 of 9 pics show the burnt tips. i'll grant some miniscule credit to the beef there.

but c'mon now how old are we all here? if you aren't smart enough to read a description before hitting the "buy it now" button then shame on you.

there's no need to bash AAM for someone's stupidity.

therefore a thread falsely bashing a vendor should be removed or renamed asap.

Correct and I agree. I'm only stating what can be done to have AAM update the listing to avoid another customer/post like this. :)

You gentlemen have a wonderful day.

mults 01-27-2015 10:35 AM

I agree that AAM should be contacted for resolution. Their feedback score is 100% so they must be at least willing to rectify the situation, no matter who is a t fault...

Good luck, and hope you get what you want...

ZKraken22 04-07-2015 02:21 PM

Polished tips don't sound like burnt/titanium tips. Your pride is hurt.
