Default Coming to Hawaii this week. Need some suggestions

Hey guys. Im getting married Saturday and my fiance and I will be coming to Oahu for the honeymoon. That being said, do you guys have any suggestions for any nice restaurants or any other cool things to do? We are going to do some snorkeling and going to go to Pearl Harbor, but other than that we dont really have any plans.

Sorry its not car related lol. I just figured it would be best to ask the people who actually live there.

I don't currently live there, but did live there for five years...

Attending an authentic Luau (preferrably with a pig roast) is a must. Stay away from the Poi though!

If you two like nature hikes, there arre several which are pretty along the island. You can hit Waimea Valley Park (North Shore) for a nice walk through the gardens and peacocks to a waterfall with some cliff diving demonstrations.

Sunset cruises from Waikiki can be romantic as well.

Have fun and Aloha,

Congrats on the wedding! How long are you going to be here and are you and your wife outdoors kind of people that like to physically do things or mainly want to sight see, enjoy the arts and museum type?

I always tell people when they come, to rent a car for at least a day or two. Take a drive around the North Shore of Hawaii at your leisure. It will make for a wonderful all day adventure. Leave Waikiki after 8:45 am to avoid morning traffic, it's horrible here. You can stop at Dole Pineapple Plantation and maze, then head off to Haleiwa (the start of Hawaii's famed surfing spots) some neat art, boutique clothing and souvenir stores and eateries there. Grab a Matsumoto's shave ice (so refreshing) then hang out at some of the very calm beaches during the summer (in winter it totally transforms). Waimea Valley Park and beach that Z Stig mentioned above is a little further along this ride. On the way back, you will go through an unassuming town called Kahuku, totally unknown but it is the #1 town in the USA for producing NFL players. This community is made up heavily of people with Samoan ethnicity. Prior to it and in it is all the famous shrimp trucks that everyone likes to eat at.

Please be very careful with your valuables, Hawaii is very safe however there are a few idiots who prey on tourist leaving valuables in the car or on the beach while swimming.

toogood131 provided a nice link, too.

Congrats on the wedding and the Honeymoon. At least they speak the language and the money is the same, so you have that going for you...

Whatever you decide, have fun, relax and enjoy!

It's been over 40 years since I've been there and I'd love to revisit.

That's actually a very ignorant statement and many people living here would take offense to that.

Thanks guys. I have been so busy with wedding stuff so it took a while to respond lol. We rented a car for the week so we wont be stuck. So we will probably go to the north shore based off of you guys suggestions.

Just landed a couple of hours ago. We will be staying until Saturday. We're about to grab something to eat and get some groceries, then hit the bed lol. We have been up since 11pm Hawaii time yesterday and haven't eaten since 5am Hawaii time lol. Been a long day!

Congrats on the wedding. Have a fun but safe time here. Like everyone says, there are the things that we would like to keep "hidden" from others view (aka homeless people, "interestingly" odd people, and the such) but for the most part, people here are relatively open and friendly.

Be safe in going to certain places and just be mindful and things will usually go smooth. Have fun, enjoy the food and hopefully sun and tradewinds too.
