Hawaii Paint Shop.
Hello Everyone, I'm new to the island of Oahu and was wondering does anyone know a good paint shop. I'm looking to do some paint touch up on the front end of my 370Z. Thanks
in advance. |
I don't know which one is the best but there are a few that most of the members like to go to. The more popular ones are Aiea Collision, Tech One, and GX Auto.
If you have facebook, you should post this question on the VQ I.N.C. Page, you will probably get more responses and maybe hear some experiences with those shops. |
Oahu Paint Shops
I've used Global Auto Repair on Sand Island Rd. They perfectly color-matched hood and front fenders on my PW 2006 350Z. The re-paint is 7 years old and still looks great.

UraZai,
PeteZ, Thanks for the info. I'll check em out. |
I heard lot of comments from people around the island saying Tech One is the place to go for paint. So, I went to Tech One for a quote. I told the guy I want my front bumper, both side skirt and some of the touch up from small rocks on the vehicle. He quotes me for $1800 and he say that just for one side of the skirt, so I say why would I want to paint one side only. He make up some excuse saying he was in the painting process and that he will have the date open for me. I don't know much about the kind of good paint job they provide, but customer suck big time. I was wondering have anyone else used Tech One in Kalihi?

Chrischhorn,
Yap, you're right about service here on the island. I also got a Pearl White. Did you get your painted? I'm think about going to Aiea Collision. I heard they are good, but is affortable.......lol |
I have not got a paint job yet but I was on the fence about the Stillen front fascia but if I cant decide whether I trust them here to touch it or not, I may not buy it. Another open option for me is still to just wrap the entire car and get rid of the pearl white all together with something a little more "unique." lol.

The main Z club is VQ I.N.C. Basically all cars with a VQ but its all mostly 350/370z and G35/37's. 1 altima but he is technically a VQ lol. We meet every thursday night at Zippy's in Pearlridge right by the Sears at 7 p.m. Usually only about 10 cars come out. Small island bro lol. |
I can vouch for gx auto. Had my car repaired by them and they do a very good job. Even fixed the factory paint defects since my car was literally brand new when it was hit. Ask for mike and tell him his korean friend with a 370 sent you
|
Chrischhorn, wow is there anyway can fix your front lip? How much u get the quote for the stillen front?
I heard about VQ INC, but I don't know anyone n is just feel weird to show up at one of the meeting, was wondering if u can tell me more about the club. I used to belong to CYBREED in San Diego back in the 90'. But back then is was a homies crew. We doesn't care what your car looks like....is was all about the brotherhood. |

Thanks ak808. I'll check GX auto out next week. |
Just a word of advice though. I just had dinner with the owner this past weekend and they are swamped with cars now. Just be sure to ask for wait time and add a few days if you do decide to go with them. That way no is disappointed

I would go see Joel at JL Autobody in Sand Island. When I lived there, he did paint repairs on two of my BMW M3s and his work is flawless!
He works on a lot of high end cars there too. If you call him, tell him that Sterling sent you:tup: https://www.facebook.com/pages/JL-AU...425274?fref=ts |

His prices are pretty competitive. He charges mid quality prices for high quality work! He is able to match any color out there with ease, or any other color you want. He was able to match my Avus blue metallic on my old e36m3 perfectly, which was discontinued after one year, due to the difficulty in repairing that paint color.
He does body work, kit installs, painting, ect..... |
Okay thanks I will definitely hit them up when I order a body kit!
|
Good! He is able to mold kits into the body also and it looks flawless. Take a look at his FB pics and see the high end cars that go there:tup:
|
Ha, you should see my jenk a$$ lip install lol. I was planning on going Stillen front fascia but SCCA rules will push me into a modified class. :shakes head: IF I end up with the GTM MHI TT kit then I will go ahead and buy it since I will be in modified anyways. Paint matching Pearl White still scares me though....

I am pretty sure JL can match the PW paint. You auto-x out at the stadium? My good friend drives the yellow C6 Zo6

OK, finally got 3 quotes for the front bumper. Here are the results.
JL - $900. Tech One - $650 quote over the phone. Aiea Collision - $775. Now is decision time. The different on the price make me thinks. Any suggestions out there my bradda and sisiter if there is any sister in the house? tiphat: |

Yup! Jayson is his name. |

I can almost guarantee that JL can do a better job at matching that PW than the other two can. PW met is a pain to match and will look off from the rest of the panels if not done right. |
Whoever you decide to go with post some pics of the end result and your experience with them
