My question is... where did you guys get your parts from? I usually order my stuff online.. but if there is a local dealer, I might go that route.

All my stuff, I buy from various vendors or other forum members. Most places on the island that could get anything for us still charge for shipping and add their own markup. Vendors here work out great and can give better deals then what's posted on their websites. I ask multiple vendors for pricing on the same items and just go with the cheapest one. Just specify you're in Hawaii or they will misquote you.

Ah ok, thanks! I guess I will start hitting up the vendors here then.

I order all my things through the vendors or other members. You can order from shops like sonic's, premier (sean), or ron's but they will charge you extra cuz they need to make money off the sale as well

Default and then there's shipping

I get all my stuff via vendors or speed sources online. Local sources prices are high and as mentioned above they add a markup too. As you all know, Hawaii residents get screwed on shipping from the mainland. What I do to beat this charge is use a freight forwarder to ship stuff from the mainland to Hawaii. I swear by Hawaii Air Cargo (HAC) on Ualena St near the airport. Here's how it works:

1. Call HAC and tell them you want to set up a personal account for shipping stuff from the mainland. This way they have your phone number, etc.
2. Have Stillen, Summit Racing or whoever ship stuff to the Hawaii Air Cargo office in LA. (actual address on the website). This way you get mainland shipping rates which many times is cheap or free.
3. HAC then consolidates stuff for other customers and ships the stuff 5x per week from LA to Honolulu. I even shipped an engine and trans from the mainland to Hawaii this way.
4. HAC then calls you when your stuff arrives.
5. You drive to Ualena St. pay HAC, and pick up your stuff. Usually costs $12-$40 to ship most speed parts this way.
6. HAC will deliver big stuff for a charge. They only charged me $400 to ship a 455 Buick V8 engine and automatic trans from LA to Hawaii plus $50 to deliver.

The HAC rates are always cheaper than shipping direct from mainland suppliers.

PeteZ, excellent suggestion! This is definitely a good way to manage the costs of Hawaii shipments.

Good part about that too, is our free freight program kicks in since we're shipping local!

OP, let me know if I can help get that intake to you.

Default Hawaii Air Cargo

I just sent them an email saying a bunch of Oahu-based 370Z owners may be contacting them soon regarding setting up personal accounts. Good Luck with this service. It's kick ***

I've got a lot of friends that would be interested in this. Not just the 370z community. The 350z/G35 community, some Honda, some Toyota. This would be amazing to get a group deal!
