I'm in for a price. I'd want all the coatings and other bells and whistles.

If I had money to build my motor sooner, I'd be all over it. It's being molested by GTM

If the price was right, I'd buy them and mothball them until I built the motor later.

Yes a motor build is easier to chew when taking small steps. After the pistons, I plan to setup rods. From there, the last couple tidbits such as the headstuds etc will come. By that stage, I will have my spare engine on a stand and I will be seeing if I need to machine any custom parts for it, or if it looks good to go and ready for the machine shop. My goal is 800rwhp personally.... but with room to go as you never know what the future holds.

admittedly...ive only been in the 370Z realm for a couple of months...but, doesnt the VVEL restrict the amount of boost you can run? lowering compression means more boost. has anyone been able to run more than 10-11 psi on this engine?
again...sorry for the n00b question. but im planning on going FI, soon. and these are the questions i have...

Nobody can run more than 10-11 psi because you run great risk of piston or rod failure due to too much horsepower. Once there are more samples of people building their engines and turning up the boost, then we will start to see if VVEL presents any issues that need resolution.
The pistons this thread is about are targeted at not lowering the compression as much as the currently available options. Available shelf pistons are 9:1, where stock is 11:1. I wish to go right in the middle, at 10:1. |
