Group buy, Sport Caliper Powdercoating

I am cutting back on the business now and no longer accepting new customers. I'm still here for previous customers and shops that I do work for but in a more limited capacity and my lifetime warranty still applies to all previously accomplished work.

Caravanshaka 07-28-2009 07:35 AM

is this fronts only, or all 4 corners?

nice, good price for these! If I wasn't planning on getting into powdercoating myself I'd definitely go for it. I am in the process of gathering materials to build my oven right now.

Mike 07-28-2009 08:40 AM

its a fun hobby! Let me know if you need any pointers.

Thanks Mike! Good luck with the group buy, I'll bet you get 5 people pretty quick, they look great!

Where are you located at? Cause if there was a way to just bring the car to you, that would make it sweeter.

Do the Sport Pkg brakes with the Nissan logo, is the logo raised on the caliper, or is it just painted/sticker?

m4a1mustang 07-28-2009 10:09 AM

Would you rice it and slap brembo decals on the akebonos? j/k lol.

I am in Altanta. I do installs for local people at for an additional charge.

The letters aren't raised on our cars, but silk screened on from the factory. My normal lettering method is to paint them on using a vinyl stencil, then clearcoating the entire caliper with powdercoat. The only exception to that is reds and oranges with white or silver lettering get vinyl decals, as the reds bleed through and turn the lettering pink.

Mustang, I'll put whatever logo someone wants on them, regardless of how wrong it is.:p

XwChriswX 07-28-2009 11:37 AM

Ok just wondering, I would go for a Blue myself with no logo. Just didn't wanna still see 'Nissan' coming through because its part of the caliper.

ATL huh... hmm... Quite a drive from AZ. Damn lol.

Caravanshaka 07-28-2009 11:48 AM

it's a core swap...he sends you the calipers, you do the swap in your garage and send him your old calipers back. You won't have much down-time, so it shouldn't be any worse than driving to where he is and doing the pull off, powdercoat, install, and re-bleed at his place.

XwChriswX 07-28-2009 11:50 AM

My problem is when it comes to brakes, I'm not too confident to do it myself, I'd have to wait till they get here and have a shop do them. (No reason to worry... just saying.) My expertise is bolt ons and electronics lol.

Caravanshaka 07-28-2009 11:54 AM

brakes aren't too bad once you sit down and do them. The bleeding can be a big PITA, but if you put speed-bleeders on while you are doing it that can become a lot less painful. Just hire a friend with pizza and a six pack to help you out

XwChriswX 07-28-2009 11:57 AM

lol Too bad your in Dallas

370z4Steve 07-28-2009 12:54 PM

what about if it just says NISSAN on the calipers?

2theextreme 07-28-2009 01:30 PM

PM sent

Forgive me for the noob comment...

Akebono... never heard of it? Anything special, or am I just out of the loop?

I believe that is the brand that is standard on the 370Z:

A $3,000 Sport Package is available on both the 370Z and 370Z Touring, which adds 19″ Rays forged wheels with Bridgestone Potenza tires, viscous limited slip diff, 14″ Akebono-Nissan brakes, front & rear spoilers, and rev-matching technology for manual transmission-equipped cars.

I was told those were the ones I had on my car while discussing possibly upgrading them.

I can replicate that.

Akebono is the actual manufacturer of the brakes, so thats why a lot of guys want that logo on them, plus to be different.

1st is the worse
2nd is the best &
3rd is the one with the rotten egg

XwChriswX 07-30-2009 07:07 PM

/\ Just posts random things everywhere to get his post count up lol. Don't mind him...

nogoodname 07-30-2009 07:10 PM

no, but seriously.....1st is the best...lol

if you dont see why, you fail so hard

XwChriswX 07-30-2009 07:31 PM

1st may not be the best here if he's the Only one... Just means he's the 1st to get screwed out of a good deal...

nogoodname 07-30-2009 07:35 PM

so, powdercoat the microwave's brakes...lol

there has to be at least 4 more ppl willing

Mike 07-30-2009 08:21 PM

I think I have 1 or 2 G37 guys interested too, we will see. If I can't get 5, no reason to be a sponsor here.

Eman 07-30-2009 10:08 PM

I'd be interested in a set, though I won't be getting my car for 3-4 more weeks I think.

with only 1 core set, it will be at least 3-4 weeks til you were up.

I started with 1 core set for corvettes, but built up to 18, although I don't think that will happen here.

Eman 08-09-2009 12:03 AM

any luck getting the five spots filled up? I'm still interested in getting this done.

Mike 08-09-2009 12:14 AM

nope, we are at 1 right now. its popular with the g37 guys, but apparently not here.

Eman 08-09-2009 11:21 PM

are the g37 sport brakes the same? I'd still like to get this done whether or not you get the 5 on this site.

yes, they are the same, just a different color and logo.

grizz311 08-23-2009 06:26 PM

Hey man, I am possibly willing to get in on this. I also live in Georgia, so I could drop my car off or whatever. What kind of price are you looking for front and back, with logo?

Shunya 08-23-2009 09:33 PM

i think it was 300 :P

Mike 08-23-2009 09:39 PM

yes, 300. If you want me to pull them, coat and reinstall, it would be 500.

I think the group buy is dead and I won't be a vendor much longer due to lack of interest, but the offer is out there regardless.

sloterg 08-24-2009 12:46 AM

dam its a shame.. im still going to be coming to u for powdercoating regardless.. :)
