Just wanted to put a little more information out there.
Here are the installation instructions for the Unichip piggyback on the earlier 350Z's. http://www.unichip.us/installation_i...ns/2340011.pdf To install the COBB Access Port you simply plug the tuner into your OBDII port, select your tune, and your finished. The COBB tuner CAN BE REMOVED AND RE-SOLD. When you plug the COBB tuner into your OBDII port you have to "install" the tune. This basically locks that access port controller to that particular car's VIN number. However, if you decide to sell the car and want to remove the Access Port that is 100% possible. You just have to hook up your controller and select the "un-install" option. This will remove all of the tuning and unlock the controller. For more information please visit the following link and scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see a short video on how to remove the tuner from your vehicle. CobbTuning.com - 350Z AccessPORT: '03-'06 VQ35DE Engine The COBB tuner also allows you to read and diagnose trouble codes, data log your runs so you can pull vital tuning information, upload your datalogs to your computer and get email updates direct from COBB. You can track your performance of your car, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, and more. Those are all features that are not possible with the Unichip. Also, it looks like the COBB is about $50.00 less than the Unichip... Now for the pro's on the Uni-chip: Once the Unichip is removed it will not leave a "foot-print" on your factory ECU. Because it is a piggy-back unit all of the alterations are made after the signals come out of the ecu. Basically the car's factory ECU has no idea that the Uni-chip is even there. It is difficult to make any assumptions on performance because there are no numbers out yet from Uni-chip. Not trying to say anything negative about Uni-chip. I have no personal experience with their products, just pointing out some of the difference's I saw on both manufacturer's website's. Hope the information I have provided proves helpful to some member's of the forum! Last edited by Kyle@STILLEN; 04-24-2009 at 04:50 PM. |
