Jack & Coke??
Why would anyone ruin good whiskey with Coke! That like putting ketchup on a ribeye.

The history of alcohol and the role of cheap prohibition alcohol in providing a strong impetus for mixed drinks and cocktails is interesting. Hence rum and coke and scotch (or whiskey) and whatever.
An interesting turn is that you now see people mixing good alcohol with drinks that hide or overpower its flavor. Chili's has built an empire in part by convincing people to mix good tequila with shitty margarita mix. Doh! |

for me drink of choice these days would be Johnny double black/Green or Jameson. We got a bottle of Johnny Blue for my mates wedding, to me it's not all it's cracked up to be. I am no pro, but Green to me was smoother/nicer straight out of the bottle or on the rocks.
I'm always trying something different and they are still the best so far, will give some of the others in this thread a try :) |
If you guys can find it grab a bottle of suntory hibiki. Everyday 12yr is good very good. Yes it is a japanese whiskey, but it'll give your Johnnys a good run for the money. You can thank me later ;)
|
Any Four Roses bourbons are outstanding, but I just picked up a bottle at Binny's in Chicago that really stands out. Single Barrel, Barrel Strength Limited Edition; smooth...for 108 proof :)
I like Coke and I love Whiskey, but someone please shoot me if they catch me mixing the two. Waste of Coke and Whiskey. |

http://uncrate.com/p/2009/04/yamazaki-whisky.jpg One of the smoothest whiskies I've ever had. Some restaurants in NYC serve it, but it's ridiculously expensive - like around $22-$26 a glass :ugh2: (You can get a bottle from a Virginia ABC for ~$70.) Another fave is Oban... http://www.coolmarriedguy.com/wp-con...09/12/oban.jpg I once dated a really hot doctor lady who loved Scotch and this was her fave. I still regret letting that relationship go. |

Well, I took a walk with Johnnie and I'm feeling pretty good. Time to get some sleep so I can do it all over again tomorrow. I wish I had a DD; I want to go to Denny's.

If you're not entirely against a blended scotch whisky, I recently purchased a bottle of Teacher's Highland Cream based on an online review and it's pretty good (and cheap, too). |
I don't really drink
It clears my mind too much :icon14:

looking good

It's kind of a big deal
http://coolmaterial.com/wp-content/u...tch-Whisky.jpg Hopefully the picture works, Rom Burgundy Scotch - Great Odin's Raven It's scotch, but I guess that counts since people seem to be recommending other types of scotch. I haven't been able to find any yet does anybody know anything about this stuff? I assume it's strictly for comical/ marketing value and probably just cheap swill but I'm hoping it's good. All I know is it is imported by Riviera Imports but I don't know who actually makes it, or what else they import for that matter? |
Kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I've been enjoying Fireball recently. Just mixed with Diet Coke. It's like redhots that go all through your body. Kind of nice when it's like 8* out...

Stuck on Jim Beam Devils Cut.. Just moved from Crown Black and have not been able to go back.

Okay. Tried something new last night. Fireball w/ Rum Chata. So damn good. Like a spicy Bailey's.
|
I really want to try the Ron Burgundy Whiskey .

Crown and Crown Black. Elijah Craig and Knob Creek. GLENMORANGIE and Remy 1738

The Glenlivet the 18th, Johnnie Walker black label, blue label on special occasions.
|
Cairnleigh 12 Year Old Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky (cheap but surprisingly good).
|
I was a real Jack Daniels and Johnnie Walker kinda guy, apparently I was informed years ago by a girl that the Johnnie Red I was drinking was swill and she got me to try Glenfiddich.
Haven't looked back since in terms of an everyday scotch. Johnnie Black also and Blue when I feel like a Boss. |
I am mostly a beer drinker (and homebrewer), but when I am drinking liquor its usually either scotch or gin. I like Glenlivet and Macallan a lot, and am always trying to find new brands to try. When it comes to gin, I like Tanqueray, but Hendricks is my preferred brand.
|
I've not tried it yet, but some of you may be interested in this story from a Cleveland TV Station:

Either way...cheers!!! |
First and foremost I go with gin. But when I am in a whiskey mood, it is Irish (Connemara, Red Breast cask strength) or a single malt scotch such as Caol 'Ila or Bowmore.

No posts since last week...
Am I the only one with a drink in hand? |

My all time favorite cigar: Padron Family Reserve No. 85 My goto cigars are: Romeo Y Juilieta 1875 La Gloria Serie R Oliva Serie V I could spend the rest of the day naming all the different cigars I love, hate, or have mixed feelings about. I smoke rare, I smoke cheap. I have fallen in love with a $10.00 cigar just as much as a $40.00 cigar. also: You always have time for a full cigar, you just might not have the time for whatever the cigar pulls you away from. EDIT: Just for fun I thought I would show my favorite cigar cutter & my best fake: My Lamborghini Cigar Cutter w/ a 35th anniversary Cohiba Cuban Cigar w/ Barber Poll Wrapper. Now... they never did the barber poll till the 40th anniversary... didnt realize this till I was home... I felt too stupid to take it back and fight for my money so I kept it as a reminder to inspect my Cuban purchases closer... :( http://i.imgur.com/o1lrJBd.jpg |
I like to have a variety of Scotch on hand some peaty some not.
If I can only have one in the cupboard it would be the 18year old Highland Park. |
Single Malt Scotch is DEFINITELY my drink of choice! My go to is Glenlivet 12yo. However, The Balvenie 1991 Portwood has been my all time favourite! Personally I'm not a fan of peated scotches; instead give me a Port or Sherry oak barrel matured one any day!
