Hmmmm... somehow, I've JUST discovered this thread. :hello:
While I didn't read through every post, it seems that I may somewhat be in the minority as I am strictly a Bourbon guy. (I really don't care for 95% of the scotch I've tried, and I've tried a lot of 'em :tiphat:) I've got a pretty decent collection going... Special Occasions/Sharing: Weller 12 yr & 107 VanWinkle 10 Orphan Barrel Gifted Horse & Barterhouse I W Harper 15 & 5 yr Old Charter 13 Jeffersons Ocean 2nd voyage & Chef’s Collaboration Russell’s Reserve 10 yr Blanton’s Bulleit 10 Elijah Craig 12 - Barrel proof Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch Noah’s Mill Willet Pot Still Blade & Bow Old Forester 1870 Smooth Ambler Old Scout 10 Daily drinkers on constant rotation: Eagle Rare 10 Elijah Craig 12 Buffalo Trace Four Roses Small Batch Knob Creek Bulleit Lately, I've really gotten back into the Buffalo Trace... very easy to drink neat and quite affordable... usually switching between that and the Eagle Rare 10... a damn bargain at $35 a bottle IMO. |
You aren't in the minority. The majority of my whiskey intake is the bourbon variety.
You've got a pretty good list. If you make it to Texas, stop in a Specs and buy 1835. Best affordable bourbon on the market in my opinion. About $23 a fifth. |
If you can find it try "Lead Slinger" for a $30 bottle of bourbon it's pretty smooth, and the proceeds go to a good cause.
|
Just finished a bottle of Bulliet 10 yr, it was pretty good. I like all the Bulliet whiskeys.
Just started on a bottle of Basil Hayden, the store was out of Blanton's and Buffalo Trace. |
|
A.D. Laws bourbons and rye are quite excellent but a bit pricey.
|
Just cracked a bottle of Basil Haydens myself last week. It goes great with my cigars and isn't to badly priced.

Lagavulin 16 when alone, laphroig 10 when sharing

Ive always been a beer drinker, but the past couple months Ive been getting more into whiskys. Ive only tried the Glenlivet 12 and the Glenfiddich 12 so far. Glenlivet was so much better in my opinion. For the money Ive heard Macallan's are the best but I havent found myself shelling out the extra money for it. Next I wanna try some good blended whisky. Always find myself looking at the Johnnie Walker blue, but then I come back to reality with all my bills lol
