Depends...

To an 18 or 19 year old 25 is probably perceived as not much different than 55; to a 22-24 year old, someone over 40 may seem within a reasonable range.

Really, as someone else said, it comes dwon to emotional matuirty, whcih people of any age can have or lack relative to their peers.

Someone else already posted the ultimate answer: age/2 + 7. Works every time for a practical limit
