Default Forged Performance - E85 stock turbo results!

After completing our first GT-R on E85 tuning about a month ago we were very curious to see what the effects of E85 would have on a stock turbo GT-R. It's easy to assume the gains are significant when looking at the results of a GT-R with turbo upgrades. However, would this change in fuel really have that great of an effect on a stock turbo GT-R? We needed a test car to try this out on. The test car for this project was my very own 2009 GTR. It's a big sacrifice, but someone's got to do it :lmfao: We previously made 491 whp on 93 octane on our heartbreaker Dyno Dynamics dyno. For those of you not familiar with our dyno, a stock GTR usually baselines around 380-390 whp. We were blown away by the results. We were able to make 525 whp and 578 wtq at 20 psi boost. This was about 35 whp gain and 85 wtq gain with no added modifications, just switching from 93 octane to E85. It's safe to say the turbo's are maxed out and are just blowing hot air up top. The power gains were significant down low, but power dropped off up top as the turbo's had nothing left to give. A set of intakes, IC's and IC piping is in the near future for this GT-R, but we don't expect much more power out of her until the turbo's are upgraded. Pictures and Dyno graph's are posted below. We're happy to report another successful project here at Forged Performance

How heavily modified was the fuel system to handle E85?

The GT-R comes with a twin pump from the factory. All we had to do was switch the pumps out for twin walbro's and upgrade the injectors to 1000cc's. Nothing else was upgraded. Stock lines, rails, etc.

A E85 map/tune needs to be created to run E85 as it burns differently than 93 octane.

Exactly, hence my confusion... I misinterpreted "no added modifications, just switching to E85..." to imply no tune -- duh.

no worries. Yes, a change in the map was done, but no physical parts were changed.
