Default Comparing Turbo Kits for future purchase:

Most know me here but before I begin I just want to point out the purpose of this thread. I know everyone will be partial to who they went with in being loyal to that manufacturer so lets play nice.

After spending much money on a built motor , etc, etc I now have a cracked exhaust manifold that I'm going to have welded for now but I'm wondering how long that will last. So at this point I'm wanting to get some much needed feedback on other turbo kits including mileage and issues so I do not waste even more money on my car's boosting needs. Knowing there are a lot of great options out there now I only want make the right decision so I'm not having to buy another turbo kit like I'm having to do now ..

That being said if you fi people could chime in and give some details of your build including boost and most of all mileage..

Damn man sorry for your troubles, you have had nothing but problem after problem.

Fast Intentions Stage 2 TT here. Absolutely no issues after about 3.5-4k HARD miles. (Mostly canyons and hard street driving) with a few track trips/zdayz. I have had the car up on a lift a few times and the manifolds look great from what I can see. Also, no oil leaks or any other issues of that kind.

I went with F.I. because they are local and I already established a relationship with Tony and Dan when I had my G37S. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I have the Boosted Performance kit and have about 7k miles on it. I drive it like I stole it, but not like real real hard. So far so good (aside from my toasted clutch lol)

Issues that I have had. I have had a few oil leaks from where my lines go into the oil cooler. My oil cooler likes to wiggle since its only secure on the bottom, and one of the lines eventually comes loose. This is probably install error because I haven't heard anyone having the same issue. Im going to solve it by making a bracket to secure the top of the cooler too.

The second issue that I have had was due to water. I don't have my under shroud on though. And both times it was raining so hard I couldn't drive faster than 20 mph. The first time I had an issue was on the way to ZdayZ. I drove in pouring rain for about 4 hours. When I tried to go into boost when it finally cleared up, my car ran very rich. After driving it for about 2 hours, it was back to normal. I think water got in my intercooler pipes and was richening my mixture lol. The second time I was driving on the interstate and hit a rather large ocean of water in my lane. It was raining pretty good so I didn't notice it. I have driven it in normal rain quite a few times and didn't have any issues. As long as I don't drive in monsoons or over Lake Erie, all is good. It would probably help to put the tray back under the motor.

My third issue is I can't wipe the stupid grin from my face when I hear the turbo spool

Overall, I love the kit. No issues outside of my own actions. And if you do have any issues due to components or quality, Id give you my wife if Sasha didn't address them and try to resolve them in a timely manner.

Why not keep the kit but get the header manifold custom welded to fit the snails int the currently designed position. That will cost less than getting a whole hew kit and you wont have to worry about crappy cracking manifold.

I have a Fast Intentions TT Stage 1 plus (3" down pipes and exhaust)! I have over 13K on the kit with only one small issue. One of the oil fill line clamps failed. The oil leak was very small and an easy fix. You should read the FI TT review thread for details as the djtodd tracks his and loves it with no issue an facelglide thrashes his (does some drag racing) and has reported no issues and he has about 15K on his. The components to this kit are of the best quality you will find and the fit and finish exceptional.

VSR single-turbo here. Installed August 2013 with over 10,000 miles (road trips, daily driving, drag runs, spirited cruises). Still on stock internals and have been boosting at 8-10psi since Aug 2013. No leaks. No issues except lack of traction on 305/30 RS-3s.

I've had 0 issues with my GTM kit if I was going to do anything I swap the turbos out for GTX when you go built block.

No need to waste money on new piping and intercooler at the very least just send your Garrett turbos off for service.

If I didn't have a Kit the AAM would be my choice.

Like many people said already. FI, AAM, BP is about the best kits you going to find.

I have the AAM TT kit. Absolutely love it! I got in on their R&D program last fall and was one of the first cars they installed their kit on. I was literally days away from purchasing a competitors kit when Max posted the AAM TT thread. After reading through his very informative post and lots of research, I was extremely interested. I loved the fact that they used the highly regarded Borg Warner EFR turbos in the kit. I spoke with Max a few times over the phone clearing up questions I still had and was finally sold. I dropped my car off at AAM and Max gave me a tour of the shop. A very impressive place! I have never seen so many GTRs and Zs in one place. While my car was getting worked on I also had AAM instal Z1 motor / trans mounts, AAM 3" dual exhaust, Defi boost gauge, and Innovate wideband. After a few weeks of anxiously waiting, my car was ready. I picked it up in August of last year and immediately drove the car over 8 hours straight from Maryland back to Ohio. The car ran flawlessly and I didn't experience a single issue. This speaks volumes to the high level of work they do and their attention to detail.

My car has been put away for the winter so I do not have a ton of miles on it, but I have zero concerns driving it. My tune is spot on and the car laid down impressive numbers. The car has tremendous throttle response and the turbos spool insanely fast. Turbo lag is nonexistent with this kit. The EFR 6758 turbos can support 1000+ Hp if you ever plan on pushing them farther.

The biggest thing for me though throughout this process was my dealing with Max and the AAM team. I have never seen a performance shop so driven for customer satisfaction. Every email I sent was promptly answered by Max, Jason, or Patrick. The guys even came in on a Saturday (they're closed) so I could pick up my car because I was unavailable during the week. Their level of professionalism and dedication is what every shop should emulate! When I buy my GTR I know exactly where it will be going.

Never an issue, about 10k miles, 14 months, car has never been down, not for a second. No CEL either, no leak, nothing. 4 sets of tires done (2 drag radials, on its first set of toyo r888.

Running 13psi, north of 600hp/590ft lb. Guess I have a great motor, 2012 must have been a great year at the plant! Haha.

Sadly, broke my ankle(my own ankle, not a car part) and having a 3rd child, trying to figure out a way to keep my lovely Z and not just buy a GTR or RS7. The kit is the only reason I keep this car, 630/590 daily driver reliable car in which a built motor only costs 10k? Hell yes! Maybe Ill just buy a g(may consider a trade for a g and buying the kit again)....who knows anymore haha, I have no regrets on the kit, Tony will always be a friend and my go-to guy in cars.



To each their own, but I have never had a single regret.
