We talked heat wrapping the pipes today when I picked it up. In not aware of the coating for the cooler and radiator, does it make them cool faster? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They did my intercooler & intake pipes, the coating is designed to keep heat out and reduce the transfer into the pipe. For the intercooler this means lower temps, same for the pipes in the engine bay. |
Driving the car today it for sure running cooler. Oil never got over 145 around town and I never turned the fans on. I turned the fans on for about a mile or two and dropped the temp 4 degrees. The radiator never got to 2 light left of center so it looks like it is working but I will know for sure in 4 weeks.

Some quick thoughts:
1. Keep the heat in the exhaust. Thermal wrap everything that adds unnecessary heat to the engine bay. 2. Throw out as much of the plastic junk they you possible can from the engine bay. 3. Use a lower thermostat temp, valve will open sooner and delay higher temps. X. Thinking out of the box, is a hood mandatory? If your not getting up to high speeds, smaller courses, then the aero doesn't matter so much. |
I run mostly Sebring and Homestead, they are far from slow or low speed. It's usually around 140 mph in the back straight of Sebring going into the U turn that is 17. I didn't do the hood for looks, it was the beginning of trying to keep a supercharger cool on the track and it made a huge improvement.

I am running the SPAL fans and controllers from GTM... I will say they are loud as hell! And pull a lot of air!
|
Turn on your heater all the way up. It's like having a second radiator and helps a lot.

That's what is on mine as well and they move some serious air. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't track during the summer here in Texas. It is just too hard on the car.

Radiator Cooling suggestions
I think you've done everything right. The only suggestions I'd have:
1. Add a 2nd oil cooler 2. Remove that stupid crash bar and install a tubular piece 3. Shroud the radiator to the nose 4. Wrap your exhaust!!!!! No heat out, no heat in |

It crazy but NASA doesn't do events in Florida from Nov-May, our best weather. They say not enough people show up plus in the cool weather is when all the big races/testing happen on our tracks so dates are hard to come by. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If it needs more all of those ideas will be in the next round of work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think the changes are going to do the trick. Radiator temp doesn't seem to move at all. I haven't seen a oil temp over 145 and that was getting off the highway and getting stuck in traffic for 30 min without turning the fans on. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...0a35db492e.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...d8566cd39b.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...74dd3a0b0f.jpg

We are not as hot as you but that time of year we are high 90s and crazy humid so you are burning up and soaked the whole time. I don't get it,
the weather right now is lows in the upper 40s/ high in the lower 70s and they don't have an event until May 1st. |
I was able to test the new set up at Homestead Miami Speedway yesterday and for the first time I have no cooling issues! Radiator never passed half on the stupid lights and oil never passed 220.

Radiator Cooling suggestions

Since I'm a road race guy, but prefer N/A cars, I've been doing some work too. Your thread (and a recent DE) inspired me to get going on my setup for the 2015 season. Here's my latest progress pic:
Attachment 100905 Two Setrab 26 series coolers with thermostatically controlled SPAL fans and a Mishi radiator. Crash bar is getting Fabricated now along with some shrouding and NACA ducts for my brake coolers. |
I like it and I would bet from my experience you will love it!

Also - I read in another post that your engine oil cooler is not mounted in front of the radiator - is that correct? There's not much room between the rad fan shroud and the pulleys on the front of the engine. |

My car is a 2009 so it didn't have that cooler but if it had I would have removed it. I have a Stillen bumper with the two extra vents. I have my oil cooler in one and my trans cooler in the other. It was the best thing I did for cooling everything. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...9fbedf0d0d.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What about gamma HD radiator anyone using them? I was given a good offer for one, pretty keen to snap it up.
