Those are some nice numbers to start out with. Glad to see it all coming together for you.
@chuck. What do you think he could gain from a solid tune on stage 1,another 30/20?

Depends on the tune and the tuner. Depends on his comfort level. There's always more power in it if you take out some fuel and add in some timing. Also, Sam doesn't usually adjust the fan duty cycles or the throttle maps. He also failed to turn off a few codes that pop up when the engine sees positive pressure in the manifold. The really noticeable difference is going to be in part throttle driving. It's easy to tune WOT.

Yeah, Sam's tune are very conservative to keep you in the safe range. I was at 400whp with Sam's tune and was working on a custom tune last year when my clutch was slipping so we were losing power above 6k but was confident we were going to see more than 400 if I got the clutch fixed and then finish the tune.
A custom tune will allow you to unlock a little more HP as Chuck mentioned but it is the other parameters that you see the real benefit. Better cooling from fan speed adjusted, better throttle map, etc.

Just a quick question. For the bypass valve, is there a way to quiet that down? I know it's operating correctly but it makes my car sound like it's running bad.

That valve is annoying as hell.. I just put a softer spring in it,$40.00...( for a spring)..... helped some, but the flutter is still there.
Wondering if others who have this valve (plumb back) have the same issue? |

Yeah, the flutter and just the blowing sound is ridiculous! There has to be a way to quiet it down. I've seen plenty of supercharged cars that don't sound the way ours do. Of course they're not GTM made kits, but there has to be some kind of work around for it.

I ordered the WHITE spring, just put it in yesterday. Will let you know as I drive it more. I'm wondering why we can't use a regular
Bov rather than a blowback? |

Drove about 20 miles on the new spring. Helps a little but really not the solution.
Other than you and me, I have not heard anyone else with this issue. I expect the blow off whoosh, that does not bother me. I read another companies description of their plumb back valve( can't remember their name) but they wrote that Nissan's tend to have the issue that we're experiencing.... |

Ok... Damn. I'm gonna keep looking for a way to maybe silence it a bit.

The white spring definitely lessens the chatter. I was cruising in 6th at about 65mph @2.5k rpm and really with minimal chatter.I could actually hear my exhaust where I could not with the flutter b4. I hear the chatter more at lower speeds in 1st n 2nd gears

Oh wow. My spring isnt that bad. But then again my exhaust is slightly aggressive.

Updates on the Super Charger setup.
Had a Stage 3 clutch installed today. As the car was up on the rack I noticed a hairline gap where the intake pipe flange connects to the supercharger. The flange does not completely cover the opening of the supercharger. The gap is at most a 32nd inch wide and 2 inches long. So essentially, some air is being sucking into that opening. Going to apply some epoxy putty to the gap to seal it. I'm eliminating the mocal remote oil thermostat. With the car having boost, the oil will warm up relatively quickly so, I think it's not necessary to have the 180 degree thermostat to the oil cooler lines. Plus it eliminates 4 oil line fittings that could possibly leak. I will be adding a 7 1/2" spal fan with 190 deg fan control to the oil cooler with a vented wheel well liner to push the air through. Also , I ordered a synapse diverter valve to eliminate the chattering turbosmart valve. Ordered a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole position tires. ( RE -11's just a bit out of my budget) After all that ,should be ready for the trip to Z Dayz!!! Last edited by kentmo280z; 04-24-2015 at 04:11 PM. |
