I have decided to eliminate my stock cats. I just installed FI cat back w/ 14" resonators.
That's loud enough for me. I want to run Berk test pipes w/ resonators but am wondering if the resonator test pipes would be too restrictive for my Sc ???

Nice man !! What no start up VID, LOL , Yea the sound of the SC is intoxicating for sure, I loved the sound of mine when I had it ( Stillen) BTW not sure how different the GTM kit is but Stillen told us to keep the stock cats on the car ? Cars actually lost WHP with TP's .

I don't think it would be. Isn't it a straight through design? There shouldn't be any packing in there. Man you must be itching to get her out on the open road!!! Look forward to some numbers!

Honestly you will not lose HP with TP v stock cats, I ran LTH & TP and kept the same power as stock cats, just have to tune it for a more open exhaust.
The issue with HFC & I believe RTP is they will break down and could clog the exhaust where stock cats, LTH, and TP do not have this issue. LTH & TP are just straight pipes & stock cats versus HFC have better heat control that do not break down as quickly.

I remember a few places talking about making better HFC that can withstand the heat of boost, but nothing ever materialized from it that I remember.

Just ordered the berk resonated test pipes. Once i get those it's tune & dyno time!!
I'll try to do a dyno video and will post results.
Just finished running the wiring & hose for the boost & AFR meters. Gawd I hate doing that type of install. My body doesn't contort into the positions to that I need to get under the dash.... Plus trying to get through the fire wall etc.. PAIN IN ***.... Found a place to make a hole next to the in cabin air filter to run the wires & vacuum hose.

Check that... cancelled the Berks, they're back ordered forever, ordered the Fast Intention resonated pipes instead... over priced , but... want to keep things moving..

Did you even look into the Z1 Tp's I have their HFC's and IMO better than FI's I had FIRHFC's also but the Z1's are better just my.02

What you need is non-resonated test pipes and a set of these 100 cell cats

Ask Tony, for some ;)

Zat_Zuma 01-23-2015 08:57 AM

Actually I may even have some exhaust pieces, left over, that I ran with my 1.0 kit and I reached 12 lbs of boost

kentmo280z 01-23-2015 11:04 AM

I actually sent Z1 a question asking the lead time on their resonated test pipes.
Their answer to me was : "Did you place an order?"
That was all they wrote in reply. What kind of answer is that?

When I was looking into upgrade clutches , I emailed Z1 for final pricing on what I needed, they said they would put a number together and get right back with me. I never heard back ...
They lost about $2k worth of business due to their lack of customer service.

On the other hand, Joe from Z speed, Kevin from Fast Intentions and Todd from Vivid Racing
have been very accommodating and professional. Kudos to them!!!

Over the past couple years I've run 3 different exhaust setups while running the same FI resontated test Pipes. Tanabe, Amuse, MXP. I'm still GTM Stg1.

Tanabe Touring Medallion, Amuse R1 Titan both use Y-pipes. MXP is true dual. I've never done dyno tests to prove my theory but i swear the Y-pipe exhausts felt faster. Felt like the car got into boost quicker and just felt more responsive.. Just my anecdotal 2 cents..

Nice numbers man , must be happy you can drive it finally and thaw only the base tune? You squeeze some more out with a custom tune .great work!

kentmo280z 04-01-2015 04:57 AM

Thanks my friend , was hoping for a little more hp. I did not realize that I could not tune with the cable that came with the kit. So , those numbers are with the canned tune by GTM. Everything looks safe as far as the timing and a/f so I may not get a custom tune unless i have an emissions issue. Custom tune plus license = lotta $$$ for only a few more hp.
Unless someone can convince me othewise. :)

Chuck33079 04-01-2015 07:49 AM

Sams tunes are garbage. You really, really need a custom tune. It'll be safer and you'll make more power. It goes from felling like a NA car with aftermarket FI to feeling like a factory boosted car.
