PCV issues?

Anyone that's boosted(or maybe some of you N/A guys) seem to have excessive amounts of oil from or related to PCV? I'm getting way more oil than I ever expected too in my charge piping pre intercooler. I was running without the PCV system hooked up for a few miles; had to take the car down to repair a coolant leak, and when I separated the lower charge tube from my intercooler I noticed a copious amount of oil in my charge piping. So I installed my PCV this time, and still continue to be getting way more oil than expected(maybe 3/8-1/2" wide stream 1/16-1/8" deep right to my first coupler from the exducer.) BRAND NEW BW turbo charger unit so shaft play/turbo failure is next to out of the question ALTHOUGH I wont rule out manufacturing defects. I could have a bad oil shield/seal on the compressor side its just extremely doubtful to me. -8 oil return to the pan so I know I'm not flooding the turbo with oil that's plenty large. Turbo has a built in oil restrictor, so once again no way I'm flooding the CHRA with too much oil to force it past the seals(at least I wouldn't think so). I'm truly at a loss here my built motor is running good the only thing coming out the exhaust is condensation and ethanol scent; no notorious "black smoke" from a bad piston ring seal or ring blow by. I think I'm going to install the PCV baffles factory from Nissan to see if that helps and maybe install my catch can too while I'm at it. I just figured I might run it by some other boosted guys being that I've never really monitored how much oil is "normal" from the PCV system I don't really know what I should be expecting! Even though this seems rather abnormal to me.

Chime in guys lemme know what you think. :ugh2:

Where is the turbo loction

so glad i'm dry sump and don't have to worry about pcv and "catch cans" My pcv is plugged and i build 14" of vaccum in my crankcase.

Cleaned your air filter lately? Could be plugged causing excess vacuum pulling oil past the seals

need more info on turbo setup...i believe it's blow by nothing to to do with PVC valve...

Mid mount twins air filters are brand new lmao it's a fresh 0 mile turbo kit. Or was. Lol what kind of blow by are you suspecting it to be? Ring blow by out of the question. Turbine shaft blow by yes good potential.

I think you built in restricter was not ready for the crazy 370z oil pressure. Blow by on compressor seal is my guess..

yeah I was definitely throwing that around man I know on cold startup my engine will push a steady 90-100psi of oil pressure and taper down gradually back towards 60. I didn't say much on that aspect because I wasn't quite sure just how many people have noticed that.

BBRSpeedWorks 11-07-2014 07:44 AM

Well anything above 4k rpms you at like 100psi. when I had it was cuz my turbo was low and the my pump wasnt on(forgot to put the fuse back in)...

I haven't gotten to monitor oil pressure under load or anything more than cold start/idle rpms. I merely installed an external oil pressure gauge for the first few start ups on the rebuild to make sure it was holding oil pressures properly. if that's the case its no wonder im getting this issue. do you think switching to a heavier weight oil might combat it some? its really not as bad as I though it was. let the oil that was in the charge pipe gravity feed to the end of the pipe over night and I only ended up with about a "half dollar coin" size pool after about 30 miles. the first time I noticed this issue it was after 200, so over time that half dollar is going to add up.

BBRSpeedWorks 11-07-2014 09:15 AM

No I wouldn't go heavier I would check the restricter size for the amount of oil pressure we get. Our cars are not normal so u mite just need another restricter. Call BW and ask them what size resicter to run with our oil pressure. .
