Lol, ya well if I buy the shortblock, I could run the 13-14psi and have 550whp no prob. So it would be money spent. I'm just gonna wait to see

with all the talk in this thread about goin with a different block an whatnot does anyone know how much psi a stock block can take safely? i read the whole thread and didnt really see anyone talk about it besides someone saying they were goin up a psi on their tune.
i'm lookin to go FI with a GTM stage 2 TT over the winter while my Z is in the garage and i'll have 3-4 months to do it right. i'm just looking to hit 500whp for now since 9k for the TT kit is all i really got at the moment. i'll worry bout rods & pistons later when i wanna go over 500whp. also i got a 7AT. anyone know if theres problems with that so far. please don't bash for me not knowing this i just got my Z in june and new to this engine/tranny so my knowledge is limited.

There is no real answer to what PSI/HP/TQ the block can handle so far, most of the blown blocks have been other circumstances and so far people running 500whp have been doing alright (more time is needed).
7AT upgrade is being finalized by GTM, they have shown some pieces but not much yet on pricing or other details. Will you need it? Probably not initially, something you can prep for in the future.

Note that asking what PSI a block can handle is inherently an unanswerable question since it all depends on the setup. For example, a small turbo may flow X CFM of air at 20 psi while I larger turbo flows Y CFM of air at 20 psi, and Y > X. I think it's easier to talk in how much HP or TQ a block can handle as measured on a dyno. But even then you have tons of variation between dynos.

What do they plan on using that information for?

Sam says that us folks with stage 2 turbos might be able to see 650-700whp. This has to do with the compression ratio as well. So my plan is to try and get to that 700whp mark. I was hoping to get a clear idea of what needs to be done. How much more tuning is involved with changing the compression? Can I use the stock ECU? etc....
