I took my modded NA G (Gen 3, Berk HFC, CBE and a bunch of non-drivetrain mods) to the Infiniti dealer and they performed all work under warranty unless the mod caused the issue (had to eat the AC repair for the Gen 3 rubbing a hole in the line. It pays to read installation instructions kids!). The only time they mentioned having to pay extra is if they had to remove a mod that was more than just a replacement part.
When I told my service manager I was installing the turbo I was specifically told they would no longer service my car at all even if it was a non-warranty item that I was paying for. I went to the Infiniti dealer here that installs Stillen SC kits and the manager told me that he would cover anything under warranty as long as it wasn't directly related to the turbo install. Short story long, it all depends on the dealer whether they give you hassle for mods. |

Jwick is correct, a good dealer will warranty work which does not directly related to what mods you did.
Heck, even some will do some warranty or repair work because they put the best tech on it and get to charge the "premium" price. Now, this does not mean they can charge extra just because it is modded. It just means you are not having the oil change guy who bills out $25 an hour rate working on the car. Also, mine goes to a dealer and they are fine with it (they are the ones who did the install).

be carful with that last line " warranty as long as it wasn't directly related to the turbo install." I had mine in writing from the installing dealer and still got raked over the coals when my motor went boom, An was the dealers fault.

I can't believe how impressed I am with Pep Boys, their equipment is showing the sun sensor in the drivers side dash is not working. They had to order one so I wont know if this will fix it until Saturday, fingers still crossed because I still think there might be a pinched wire or something. How much does A/C affect oil temps? After changing the radiator and moving the coolers around I am seeing oil temps lower than I have ever seen in this car. When the car is warmed up I usually sit in the low 180s but right now I haven't seen it pass 165 and it is hot as hell right now. Could not running the A/C bring it down that much? The only time I don't have the A/C on is at the track so I don't have anything to compare it to. |

It all comes down to the dealer, some see modded cars and get scarred where others see more revenue and jump to work on the cars.

Not all dealers are the same. Houston apparently has better ones than Austin, though.

The thing is I sell very expensive wood windows and doors that are impact resistant for hurricanes. you don't have enough hurricane risk. Most of my customer don't live here, they tie big money up in their homes here and claim they live here. Under Florida law even if you go bankrupt they can't take your home as long as you are making the payments so people build 10-30 million dollar homes as safety net. Even if I could do it somewhere else it has taken 20 years to build the relationship with customers and I'm not starting over unless I have to. My mom lives in Dallas and I love everything about Texas but I can't leave here.

Damn! the sun sensor eh. I saw that in the components diagram when I was researching last night.. but i was staying focused on things in the area of the radiator that would have been messed with.
Hopefully you get it resolved shortly! 1slow370: any idea which model scan tool they are using? |
