Short and sweet. At what horsepower levels in this car do we need to start looking at upgraded engine mounts? Polyurethane or Aluminum? What is better and why?

Upgraded engine mounts
Short and sweet.
At what horsepower levels in this car do we need to start looking at upgraded engine mounts? Polyurethane or Aluminum? What is better and why?

If your oem mounting is good and stiff you don't need these , however Aluminum is usually for racing application where the car is not DD especially when you have these for tranny also, they're stiff and noisy with all clicking sound all round .

Get the Z1 urethane mounts, you won't have any negative side effects from my experience.

I would not say there is a power level that you 'should' do it, but even watching the cars stock/bolt ons on dynos you can see some flex or engine movement.
I would say if you plan to do this, do engine, transmission, and rear diff mounts all at once.

The stock mounts are pretty decent. I like having solid mounts because my turbos and what-not are very close to the chassis, and its nice to not having them wack the side firewalls during powershifts. Also it reduces pull on the intercooler couplers, etc.
I personally go solid metal with the VQ. Its a very smooth engine IMHO and they only really make a lot of annoying vibration when the starter is cranking. After that, I hardly notice they are there other than the reduced lag between throttle and drivetrain acceleration. Maybe people more sensitive to noise would have more complaints about it. But personally I dont really perceive much difference. I dont go solid metal on the trans mount though, I tried that and it put the transmission noise over the top for me. |

I have the Z1 urethane mounts and really like them. I tore my OEM mount due to some spirited driving. I'd think that the turbos torquing the OEM mounts would make them tear quickly.
They are pretty cheap... might as well do them if you are turboing. |

Are the urethane mounts just stronger or are they more rigid also?

For the 7AT I wouldn't redo engine mounts. Not because of quality or anything, coming to the lights sucks... The whole car vibrates

And also I'm curious to know if z1 mounts ( motor & tranny) work for 07+ HR Sedans too. z1 have them for z370/G37 coupes only, but can't seem to find some for HR sedans chassis.
