I've been using the Z1 clutch kit (6-puck sprung + lightweight flywheel) for over a year now. No complaints and its less than a grand.

So here is a kit update. 800 miles so far been everywhere with this car.
1. Solid manifold (eeverybody says won't work) is holding great. I think I'm going to heat wrap and get a turbo blanket. But all in all is great so far. 2. 3in charge pipes with tall maf's as of Right now barely hits 4 volts with 10.5 psi which is great I hope all else company's steal my idea and make there's better. 3. Oil Is almost right at 10 quarts and has only hit 220 degrees once after a couple long highway pulls. Stays nice and cool... 4. Hits full boost at 3200rpms and comes in hard. So far so good with charge pipe route no clunking or knocks which I heard from the BP kit so I call that a plus. Ground clearance can't get any better lowered the car and nothing scraps other then my factory lip. 5. Finshed the intake from the turbo to behind the bumper and is very loud no worries about any water at all. 6. Talking with Jon at z1 about getting on the dyno to see what it puts down. 7. With every single thing I did from fuel pump to fuel return and clutch is $5647.27. And that counts tons of extra material I didn't need... I really should become a vendor but not yet...thanks for everybody that showed support. I was nervous that there was going to be some trash talking but everybody is good people so thanks...If anybody wants to know anything our would like some help just pm me.... |

Idk how the heck I missed this thread but damn man, good job. Its things like this that keeps the platform moving forward instead of staying stagnant. If I'm not mistaken, this is exactly how Sasha with BP started making his kits. Started with him making his own, then someone else's. After that he started making them and selling them. Good work my man!

When I started all this a few years back I had no intention on it going where it is today. I did my own build because I did not like anything on the market at the time. Everybody was using small Honda sized T3 turbos which had their low HP limits...so I am still the only manufacturer to use T4 sized turbos as far as single kits go, including this platform. As a result more power per psi was made, and the enthusiasts started noticing...at which point I went into production as I was getting pm's almost daily. With close to 100 kits out there I am still going strong and look forward to ramping up production in the very near future. Heck..this is my view right now:

Sorry, not at all. If anybody has the skills that you have, and is capable of building a kit of any kind for themselves, by all means, all the power to ya.
All I am saying is that I did not take somebody else's design and tried to make my own brand of it, and tried to sell to others. There has been a number of DIY guys that have built their own mid-month kit on the 350z's. Heck they have contacted me directly and asked for some specifics....and I was more than happy to help. We are all enthusiasts here who share the same love for modifying these cars...and I as one of these enthusiasts would never discourage that type of stuff. What you did is great, and I congratulate you on making it all work. I wish you luck on the dyno and hope to see similar results to those that my customers have shared with the community.

The SP (anti surge cover) was implemented on the BT twin scroll kit mid February of 2013 on my own car, a 350Z:
http://my350z.com/forum/forced-induc...from-bp-9.html Just sayn'n. As for the reference to the JTran kit, which is a twin scroll kit, I did not copy it. Compare the manifold pipe routing of that kit to my: Jtran Studios Presents turbo kits (fabrication thread) - Page 2 - MY350Z.COM Forums The turbo location is shared, but the primary and very important design difference is the equal length primaries on the BP manifolds, which separates the two kits. They also made the passenger side primary go over top of the transmission, which again is very different from a design point of view. As far as the whole "mid-mount" turbo stuff goes...the term wasn't even around till I started with the very first kit (which was a true mid-mount since it was right in the middle of the car) on my own 350z back in 2009 .

I think you are taking offense where offense shouldn't be taken. Sasha is saying that rather than try to make a kit based off of an existing design, he decided to go another route and design his kit based off of his preferences. He looked at the issues with the existing turbo kits on the 350z, and tried to rectify those by building one that didn't have those issues, and by building something that was more DIY friendly. At the time twin turbo kits dominated the market and we all know how to install those lol. They aren't something that your average enthusiast is willing to install by themselves. I don't think he is talking down or taking shots at you. I could be wrong though. I'm not trying to speak for the man lol.
Also if I remember correctly, JTrans kit was made after Boosted Performances.
