not sure, it was one of the tuning runs so it could have been an overly rich spot or sudden timing decrease, but my guess is that it could have been the end of the run or rev limiter since the smoke didn't come out from under the car meaning that since it has open dumps the wastegates were probably closed.

Either way...man, I want to find out BAD if the 7AT can hang with it...lol. Then it'd only be a matter of rounding up the money - lol. |

I guess some have never seen a turbo car, an aftermarket one at that, on a dyno and specially one that has no cats in it, just straight pipe all the way so nothing to catch those fumes you should see mine LOL

I was just surprised that it happens like that - I mean, through a lot of RPM range, then all of a sudden two puffs of smoke...as if it's building up in the exhaust then gets blasted out....but I know that shouldn't be true. |

...in short: The black smoke is normal...and depending on the cars plumbing/turbo setup you will see it intermitently.... -Jack

I have an HR motor and on my daily commute, the temp reading on my CAMP2 hits around 230 deg F in Southern CA. The commute speeds range from stop and go to "pretty fast" The oil feed restrictor to the turbos are VERY small (thousandths of an inch). The oil feed is meant to lubricate the bearings in the turbo. Cooling for the turbos are taken care of by the engine coolant. FWIW, my coolant temps run between 180 and 200 degrees F. |

cooler is always a good idea specially when considering the temps down here and also that you will probably be driving the car harder and also the engine reving a lot faster while in boost than when NA
