Will a Nissan dealer be able to tell if I have used F.I in my car?

Hi all, First off, my apologies if this seems like a paranoid/newbie question. I was wondering, before I decide to go forced induction using a twin-turbo kit eg. fast intentions

Default Will a Nissan dealer be able to tell if I have used F.I in my car?

Hi all,

First off, my apologies if this seems like a paranoid/newbie question.
I was wondering, before I decide to go forced induction using a twin-turbo kit eg. fast intentions or a supercharger kit eg. stillens s/c kit, will the dealer be able to tell I used a forced induction mechanism even after I remove it?

Thanks,
Nuc370z

Apparently, the dealers can tell if the ECU has been flashed. If everything was back to stock parts, they probably wouldn't know it was due to FI, but at that point it wouldn't matter.

Most likely not, if a dealership really thought it could and wanted to dig through there would probably be a way with a TT setup.

My local dealer knows this very well, and they love my car.

If any mechanic takes a close look they can tell something had been altered. Just a fact of life. Will the dealership reject it? I doubt it. If they feel they can make money from a deal, any dealership will take any car in practically any condition. From my experience anyways. I live in Canada where we are a bit relaxed about things like this.

It wouldn't take much of a detective to figure out that something major had been done to the engine. With a little looking around for scratches on fenders/firewall and other accidental damage, a good mechanic could probably make a good guess as to what was done. But, as Plasmite said, most dealers/mechanics aren't going to look that close and probably don't care if they do notice - unless the damage is consistent with abuse or modifying. Ie, if you go in for routine maintenance or a minor repair, it shouldn't be a problem. If you have bent rods, they're probably gonna notice.

The only way they would check on it when your claiming anything for warranty. Definitely they will know.
The dealershit would try to find ways to deny any warranty if its a huge amount or engine related problems.
Unless you have a good relationship with the service manager who would probably not say anything.

My experience is like DE's, they got to show the car off to all the other techs. Also dealerships make money doing warranty work and so it depends on your relationship with the service manager or how savvy the service manager wants to be.

Amen.
You are the most correct IMO.

Most dealers are afraid of doing warranty work because Nissan is so fúcking cheap and is railing dealers that do unnecessary work, or work on cars that shouldn't hold the warranty.

So not true. The dealers love warranty work. They will cover their asses to make sure that Nissan is going to pay but they are not going to go out of their way past that to not cover something. Why would they, it's easy money for them. Makes you happy because it's covered under warrant and it gets them paid.

Maybe it's different at Infiniti.

They don't call them stealerships for nothing. They do work you don't want them to (and charge to much) or they won't touch it at all!

My experience is they worry about mods making the warranty work take longer. As long as it doesn't hinder them from that, they covered it. Not only that, but they seem to find anything they can to fix under warranted to pad it even more. Win win in my book.

The only thing they mentioned about that is that I would have to pay the additional labor to remove mods if needed. Only came up once when they replaced the tranny. Mentioned something about paying an hour of labor to drop the exhaust y-pipe. I called BS since they would have had to remove the factory one. They agreed and replaced tranny for free

Guess I have a good dealer then. They've covered everything I've ever brought to them even with full bolt-ons. They haven't seen it Boosted, nor will they unless the Nav screen or something goes out.
