Calling Stillen SC Owners with upgraded kits

The mid 3's are right about the iffy zone, there's another guy here who just lost his tranny , and even just with built ones( jwillis) are having some problems

Thumbs up

Hey Guys

Is there someone out here,
where the "STILLEN" water pump (from Bosch) and the circulation is optimized?

(Electronically controlled or knows a upgrade pump)

Like this: "Davies Craig from Australia "

LCD EWP & FAN DIGITAL CONTROLLER - PART No: 8000 -

I'll take "now" the cold days and nights use to inform me more ...
And the water cycle to further optimize.....

If someone has had good experiences or knows a great product,
then please post the information here.

Many Thanks

Can you guys procide nput on 9lb pulley vs 928 impeller upgrade? Planning to do one or the other (not both-stock motor). For the money and performance which would be the better option?

Just like in the other post you just made. Your motor is proven to handle well over 500whp and 500wtq. Swapping to BOTH of these with a good Air to Air kit will still keep you out of the danger zone power levels but make big, safe power.

If its not in the budget to do both, then the 9psi pulley is a lot cheaper then the trim upgrade. BTW. I wouldnt even look at 928. Just send it in to the guys that acually make that supercharger and for the same price upgrade from the SC trim to the Si trim that makes 2psi more while spinning the supercharger the same speed.

Stupid question: how many are doing or have done gear swap with the SC.?
Been planning on a 4.08 ring and pinion, with the added hp and torque will I hate myself afterwards for doing it with the A/A SC, upgraded impeller and 9# pulley?

OS Giken coming too and is no extra labour to install the gears at the same time.

If it makes a difference planning on 325 ET Steeet S/S drag radial to put it all down.

Skip the 9# pulley and order a smaller pulley for the supercharger, it has a lot more contact with the belt so you will get less slipping.

I've got 7, 8 and 9 pulleys coming. My reasoning for going with the 9 was to offset for the higher altitude here.

Trying to recall, is there an extra bracket that comes with the A/A kit for a more rigid mount so it won't torque?

I believe those pulleys go on the front belt so the plate doesn't effect that one.

What is the originally noted issue with running the impeller upgrade and 9psi pulley at the same time and the motors popping? Was it leaning out due to inaccurate MAF readings? Lack of BOV? I get that it was happening with somewhat alarming frequency but didn't see an actual explanation as to why.

This is clearly something I'm not interested in replicating!

It sounds like the FB101 would help, how about adding a BOV, relocating MAF closer to the TB, other things? (I gather A/A would negate these issues as well, I'm just contemplating aloud the other options. ID mentioned before my reasoning for the 9psi pulley is to offset the 3800' altitude here - which Id chatted with Stillen about in the past and was told it was good idea. However, the SC I'm using has the impeller upgrade already so want to make sure I'm not going to be flying in the danger zone.

Pardon the Top Gun reference lol

The problem with swapping the 9psi pulley and upgrading to the bigger impeller is heat. The more boost you make the more heat is produced since compressing air creates heat. The water system simply can not reduce this increase in heat effectively enough to keep the piston rings in tact. Yes, you can run this setup and beat on it, but for how long? Any motor that had a stillen kit on it that was pushing the kit past stillens recommended ratings (8psi) has seen premature or total ring failure.

With the air to air system you are not only buying more power, but longevity to your motor as we can see exactly what temps are reaching the internals..and they are safe. Not to mention the Tial setup safeguards the supercharger also.

Thanks. That's exactly the kind of explanation I was hoping for
